LIVING CLEAN IN A DIRTY WORLD

The scripture says “anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT). Before you came to Christ, you lived according to the customs of the world. Your thought life, your words, and your actions were based on what you learned through socialisation. This old life died when you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Your life now is a new one. The problem is although you are a new person, your environment hasn’t changed, some people you used to play with in your old life haven’t changed. In summary, the world isn’t getting any better so you are living as a new person in an old dirty world.

And everyone will hate you because you are my followers. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. (Mark 13:13 NLT)

Jesus had enemies because he thought differently, acted differently, and taught differently. He didn’t conform himself to the customs of the world. He lived clean in a dirty world. As you are living your life to please Him, the world isn’t going to accept what you think, say, or do. It is going to take offence of everything you do and people will go against you.

Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. (Hebrews 12:3 NLT)

Although parents, brothers, sisters, friends, business environment, society, etc are not going to accept you because of your new nature, Paul encourages that you think of all the hostility Jesus endured from sinful people so that you won’t become weary and give up. Don’t give up because the world hate you. Don’t give up because of the opposition you face in your office, home, church, etc. Look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2 KJV).

Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. (1 Peter 2:11, 12 NLT)

In A STRANGER IN THE LAND, I wrote about how you have to live as stranger on this planet. You are not of the world. Heaven is your home. Therefore let others see Jesus in you. I heard a story about what happened in a Sunday school class. The teacher described the live of Jesus and asked if anyone had seen Jesus before. Surprisingly, one girl stood up and said Jesus lived in a house across her street. Later in the day, the teacher found out that the man the young girl thought was Jesus lived like Jesus. His thoughts, words, and actions made the girl believed He was the Person her teacher was talking about in class. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:16 NLT)

CONCLUSION;

With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.

But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

(Ephesians 4:17-24, 28-30 NLT)

God bless you

OUR SECRET SINS

I may cover my sins that no one else would know but I cannot hide it from God. Our God is Omnipresent God, and He is Omniscience. He is everywhere, and He knows all things. He said in His Word that our secret sins are in the light of His presence. I believe sometimes God laughs when He sees us closing doors and windows. It is very funny anyway, because we cannot hide it from Him. Ananias and Sapphira thought they were keeping a secret. Hardly did they know they were digging their own graves. We cannot hide our sins from the Lord.

In Hebrews 4:13 (NIV) the Scripture says “13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” What account are we going to give? I don’t know who is reading this today. But I thank God that you are sacrificing some time to read this message. God sees everything we do. The next time you close doors, or windows, or decide to run away like Jonah did, just remember that Nothing in all creation is hidden from His sight. The reason why you are not dead like Ananias and his wife is that God is waiting for you to repent. 2 Peter 3:9 says “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

You don’t know what I do in private; neither do I know all you do in private. Our neighbours may not see us but God sees us from afar. I pray every day about my weakness, and I strive hard not to repeat the mistakes I commit. My strength alone cannot save me, for by strength shall no man prevail according to the Scriptures. Every individual on earth has got a weight and sin that easily beset him/her that is why Paul encouraged us in Hebrews 12:1 that “since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” NLT. I pray God gives us Strength in our weaknesses in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What are you hiding from the public today? What sin(s) is/are slowing you down from running the race? Tell it all to Jesus. He has the Power to save you today.

We used to sing this song in the Sunday school;

I cannot hide it from God,

I cannot hide it from God,

I may cover my sins that no one else would know

I cannot hide it from God.

My dear friend, the next time you close the door, windows, turn off phone, turn off lights, answer the phone to lie, or decide to do anything that is contrary to the Word of God, just LOOK UP and know that SOMEONE IS WATCHING YOU.

You cannot hide it from God.

God bless you

A LETTER TO GOD

I remember those days in the Sunday school; I was the last person to enter the class, the first person to shout Amen! to closing prayer, and the first person to step out of the class. However, one day, I can’t tell what came over me; I went to Church early, and stayed till closing. That day, I heard a story about a little girl. I want to share with you.

The story was about a girl who came from a very poor home. She had the desire to go to school. She had so many items she needed on her list; toys, bicycle, clothes, big mansion for the family but the family didn’t have the resources for them. One day, she heard a story about God’s willingness to supply all our needs according to His riches in Glory. She went to the shop, bought writing pad, and went straight home to write a letter to God. The salutation was “Dear God” and the address;

GOD

P. O. Box 1

Heaven

she ran to the post office to drop the letter in the post after folding the letter without putting it in an envelope. When she got there, she asked if the man next to her could put the letter in the post because of her height. The man, after seeing the addressee, was amazed at the little girl’s faith. He dropped the letter and followed the girl at a distance to see her house. Later he went back to pick the letter from the post office.

A week passed and the little girl received a parcel. She opened it and saw a letter; “I’ve received your letter. For the mean time, take this money for your fees, toys, bicycle, clothes, and some things your family would need. You would have your house later.”

A month later, the man went to the girl’s house, handed over a bunch of keys to the girl, and added “God wants me to give you one of my houses. You can stay there till you get your own house.” That little girl’s Faith turned the family’s life around for good. When Jesus said “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you” Luke 17:6 I believe He was in a way telling us to have faith like a little child. Every child believes the daddy is a super hero; he can provide everything he or she needs. We also must believe God has the Power to meet all our needs.

Like that little girl, if you can take a step of faith today, and do your part, I mean those things you can do with faith, God will do those you can’t. If you can do the natural, God will do the supernatural. If you can do the ordinary like that little girl, God will do the extraordinary.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more that all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him I pray, that you receive strength and power to put your Faith to work.

IT IS WELL
