More than Sparrows

sparrows 1I read this short piece some ten years ago and it has been among my favorite articles I read at least twice every year. Although I published it in 2011 and repost in 2012 & 2013, I feel within my spirit that someone needs this message. I trust this post will refresh you in your walk of faith.

“Have you ever seen a worried bird with deep wrinkles on its brow,or one with bleary blood-shot eyes caused by sleepless night of worry?

Have you ever seen a bird worried about who would pay mortgage on its nest?

Birds don’t worry or fret because they have absolute trust in God for their safety and survival.

If birds are safe in His hands, WHAT ABOUT YOU?

The Lord says ” Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:25-26

Be cheerful as the birds. If you worry and waver in the day of trouble, you may miss God’s plan and opportunity for deliverance. He has great plans for you and He will fulfill them.” -Christian Women Mirror

DAY 6: LIVING THE WORRY FREE LIFE

CAST ALL YOUR CARES ON JESUS

dontworry_nivA young woman saw an old woman standing by the road with her heavy load. She was carrying basket full of farm stuff. The young lady stopped and asked;

Young woman:          Mama can I take you home? I could see your load is heavy.

Old woman:   thanks my daughter but I am ok. I can walk home.

Young woman:          I know Mama. Please do me this favour. I really want to help…just today

Old woman: Ok.

The old woman sat in the car but after two to three minutes, the young woman looked into the mirror and saw the old woman still carrying her load in the car. She was puzzled. She said

Young woman:          Mama, why are you still carrying your basket?

Old woman:   My daughter, what you have done is enough for me…at least you have helped me with the distance. I don’t want to bother you with my load too.

Young woman:          O Mama, don’t worry. I care for you and your loads. Leave everything for me. Please drop them and sit comfortably as I drive you home.

This story reminds me of what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28.

Then Jesus said “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NLT)

Some of us have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour but are still carrying their heavy burdens like this old woman. Friend, Jesus cares.

What load or burden are you carrying today?

Could it be guilt, secret sin, addiction, negative thoughts, some negative attitude, fear, hard heart, disappointments, sicknesses, pains, etc? Whatever it is, I want you to know that Jesus cares. He isn’t looking at what you did in the past, even yesterday or some few minutes ago, but what you can do now to have eternal rest for your soul.

Would you allow Jesus to carry your burdens for you?

Some people talk about Jesus but they have not fully enjoyed the benefits of knowing Him. When I found out that I could cast all my burdens on Him because He cares for me, I said bye-bye to worry and anxiety. I tell Jesus everything about my life…the good ones, and the bad ones. The scripture says He understands our weaknesses. In what a friend we have in Jesus, the writer said;

“O what peace we often forfeit,

O what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged,

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful

Who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness,

Take it to the Lord in prayer.”

Be encouraged today that Jesus cares about you. Cast all your burdens on Him for He is a true Friend who will never leave you nor forsake you. You can live the worry free life.

DAY 3: LIVING THE WORRY FREE LIFE

dontworry_nivDon’t worry about sicknesses/Diseases

And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5, NKJV)

Jesus is your healer. Hallelujah! Among the benefits you enjoy as a child of God is freedom from sicknesses/Diseases. However, when you listen to the news or hear stories about outbreak of diseases in your country or other parts of the world, you may be tempted to worry about the chances that your kids, husband, wife, or you could be infected. The truth is these sicknesses/diseases are for those who do not have Jesus. The scripture says “Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you

Jesus paid the price for your healing on the cross of Calvary. You are covered by the Blood of Jesus. As a result, don’t live your day worrying about rumours of diseases killing people around you. Don’t allow the enemy to steal your joy in Christ with the doctor’s report about your situation. In as much as your doctor may be an expert, we have The One (Jesus) who has cure for every sickness or disease that can be named.

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayer, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”  (Philippians 4:6-7, MSG)

God wants you to live worry free life. He wants you to pray about everything, including the sickness/disease you have in your body today. One song writer said most believers worry because they don’t carry everything to the Lord in prayer.

You have power in the Name of Jesus to heal the sick. I don’t know the report you have about your health. But I do know what God has said concerning your life. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you. And by His stripes you are healed. Instead of worrying, pray.
