The Battle against Homosexuality

iowa-gay-marriage-2009-4-13-14-51-40

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. (2 Corinthians 4:10, NIV)

Hello everyone,

If you have watched the news in the past 2-3 months, I believe you have heard a lot about Gay marriages, and how people are protesting against that. The church has got a role to play; to stand against same-sex marriage, and pray for people who are homosexuals. Am amazed sometimes at how the church handles such issues, even to the extent of condemning such people. Jesus was against adultery but he didn’t condemn the woman who was caught in the act of adultery. (John 8:1-11)

Christians must stand against the same-sex marriage but we must care for those who are held captives in the act.

I am against homosexual behavior but I am not against those who commit such act. I care for them and pray that they repent and come to Christ. They are on the highway to hell. 1 Corinthians 6:9 says that those who practice homosexual will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Friend, I want us to see this issue from the other side. Normally the church condemns homosexuals and sometimes ignores them which I believe is wrong. We should care for them the same way we would do for thieves, liars, prostitutes, drug addicts, etc. God is against same-sex marriage but He cares for homosexuals. He still caters for them because he wants them to come to repentance.

This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:3, 4 NLT)

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He doesn’t want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” (2 Peter 3:9 NLT)

Therefore, instead of writing them off, I believe there is a better thing the church can do for them; PRAY. Jesus said “I also tell you this: if two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.” (Matthew 18:19 NLT) When the church prayed for Peter in Acts 12, God sent an angel to rescue him from prison.

Gays are prodigal sons (like the guy in Luke 15:11-32). God is waiting for them to come back to him so let us pray for them. God didn’t create any person to be Gay. The enemy is behind same-sex marriage.

I pray that we come together and pray for those who see nothing wrong with men sleeping with men. Each time you go to the Lord in prayer, pray for the salvation of homosexuals, especially for the ones you know. Our prayers can do the work. Prayer works.

DON’T WASTE YOUR SEED(S)

don't waste your seedFor God is the one who provides seed for the farmer (2 Corinthians 9:10, NLT)

When we completed school, some of us were fortunate to have their parents reserved money for them to start life with. They had capital to start their own businesses. This was seed their parents want them to sow. I believe the good farmers (wise) among us are going to reap hundredfold.

When God created you, He deposited something on the inside of you. He put the seed of greatness in you that He expects you to sow.

Someone once said “In every apple, there is a seed. In the seed is the tree. In the tree are many more apples with even more seeds, which produce orchards of trees.”  In other words, in every child of God, there is a seed. In the seed is the tree, which is the result of using what God has put in you. Those results will unearth more seeds, which produce orchards of trees. Your duty is to sow.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SOWING?

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. Isaiah 55:10, NLT.

When you act in obedience and sow the seed or use what God has given to you (your gifts, talents, resources, etc), God will send down rain to water the earth and cause your seed to grow, producing more seeds for you, as well as giving you enough wealth to satisfy your needs. That rain could come in the form of meeting new partner, finding better spouse, getting promotion, getting out of debt, etc.

Friend God has the right people in your future to help you accomplish all your dreams and aspirations. But you have to start something. You have to sow what you have in your hands. Steve started with his friend in his father’s garage. When he did his part, according to him, the company grew from two people in His father’s garage to over 4000 after 10 years.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” (1 Corinthians 3:6,7, NIV)

Don’t waste your seed because in that seed you will find everything you would ever need on this planet.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU WASTE YOUR SEED?

“Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate. I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’ “But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate, why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’ Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 25:24-27, 30, NLT)

Apple now employs more than half a million people in the United States. The question is what would have happened if Steve hadn’t planted the seed he had? When Steve sowed his seed, it brought forth tree which produced fruits. Those fruits have seeds in them so when wise people eat the fruits, they also have something to sow. Businesses have been set up to produce external devices for apple products. All these wouldn’t have been possible if those two guys hadn’t started something in that garage.

What would tell God when He asks for what you did with your seed?

God expects you sow because many people out there, some you may never meet, are waiting to enjoy the fruits that your tree will produce. If you fail to sow, people will suffer and you will be held accountable when you stand before God.

WHAT MUST BE DONE?

Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well. Ecclesiastes 11:5, NIV

I came to encourage you to find a soil to sow your seed. It may look like the acorn but the oak tree will come from it. Don’t be afraid of the unknown and sow your seed in the morning, and at evening. God will do the rest when you you sow. Don’t waste your seed(s).

God bless you!

“ONE THING”

One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. Psalm 27:4.

I have come to realize that in life, there is always one thing a person can’t do without. You may give him everything yet he wouldn’t be happy till he gets that thing. It could be anything. I dressed up for a party. The dress was good but at a point, I couldn’t find my tie; the tie that would match my outfit. I searched everywhere… I couldn’t find it and that made me unhappy throughout the hours I spent at the party. That one thing spoilt my day.

Friends, our days are numbered and you can only choose one thing at a time. The world is ruled by two forces; the Power of Light/Knowledge and the Power of Darkness/Ignorance. You can only choose one. The world is ruled by One Master (God), and one who wants to be a master (Satan). You can only serve one.

You can do one thing at a time. I heard a story of one American President. He held a meeting with his vice and others. At the same time, his child was disturbing. A member asked if the president could talk to the child. The president responded he could only do one thing at a time. Either he rules America or takes care of his child. He can’t do both. This is what I mean, you can’t live on earth, claiming you have Jesus, yet your works don’t show. The only difference between an unbeliever and yourself is you go to church on Sundays. Jesus said that so long as we want to be His disciples, we should let our Lights shine.

You can’t love God, and love the world at the same time. You can do one at a time. In I John 2:15; we are told “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” Some believers today love worldly songs, dresses, and show much interest in worldly movies. We are on this earth but we don’t belong here. We are visitors; God brought us here for a purpose therefore it is quite unnecessary trying to be like others who have neglected God, and His son Jesus Christ. Ephesians 3:16 tells us the kind of songs we should sing and pay attention to. You can’t love Spiritual songs and Worldly songs at the same time. What is your favourite song? Who is your favourite artist? Who is your favourite movie star? Better still, who is your favourite celebrity? What do they do? Does that bring glory to God?

You can love one person at a time. Our words are powerful; Read on how Esau sold his birthright to Jacob and you would know the choice of Words you have to use daily in all situations.  Some of us in relationships, do make some confessions that don’t glorify the Father. When a married man tells the wife “I love you with all my heart” he says that to himself as it is written, the two shall become one. However, any relationship that is not marriage involves two people. For instance When I tell a lady I love her with all my heart (while am not married to her), I am confessing that she has my heart (which belongs to God as a bachelor). Some folks even say “I’ve given my whole heart to you”.  No wonder we suffer broken hearts in the long run. Jesus said the first commandment is “Love the Lord your God with all your heart….” You can’t love two Master. If you are not married, God has an issue with your confession that you love a boyfriend or girlfriend with all your heart. Search yourself, have you said that before?

Where would you spend eternity? Heaven or Hell? You can’t be at the two places at the same time. You must choose one. Think twice and know that One thing can take you to either Heaven or Hell.

Paul said in Philippians 3:13 that “one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead”

I would advise you take some time to think about your life. What One thing do you need to change from?

And what One thing do you need to improve in your life? Pray to God for strength.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
