Fearing People is a Dangerous Trap

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. (Proverbs 29:25, NLT)

Luke 12:4, Matthew 10:18

Fearing people is a dangerous trap that can lead to eternal destruction in the lake of fire. Fear of people can hinder everything you try to do, especially living righteously and doing the things you really love doing for God. Fear of people affects our relationship with God as we end up pleasing people instead of God.

Some of the reasons that could lead you to be afraid of people are;

  1. death
  2. rejection
  3. humiliation
  4. Insecurity
  5. Etc

Everybody wants to be loved by family and friends. We want to live to enjoy life to the fullest. One thing that most of us forget is that death is a destination we all share. Each person is destined to die once according to Hebrews 9:27. Thus I wonder why some people, including Christians, are afraid to die. Steve Jobs once said “no one wants to die; even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die and get there.” Steve died on October 5, 2011.

You are made up of body, spirit, and soul. Man can only kill, reject, and humiliate the body. Therefore don’t be afraid of what man can do. I will tell you who you should be afraid of, God. He is the One who can destroy both your body and soul. Fear of death will lead you to be afraid of people who threaten to kill you. Paul said “for to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21. Don’t be afraid of death because it is a trap that can lead you into eternal destruction.

The second part of my message is; trusting the Lord means safety. When you fear the Lord, you trust your life under His care. You believe that He alone can change the course of your life, and you find rest in him. There is assurance for the one who fears the Lord;

The eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them in famine. (Psalm 33:18-19)

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. (Psalm 34:7, NIV)

Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. (Psalm 34:9, NIV)

The person who fears the Lord departs from evil, and he is not afraid of what mere mortals can do to him. That person isn’t afraid of demotion, rejection, humiliation, death, persecution, etc., and he is secured in this life, and the life to come (eternal life).

Friend, fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.

The End is near. Jesus is coming soon.

God’s Word can be trusted

20130215-173932.jpgThe Words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (Psalms 12:6, KJV)

Psalms 119:140, Proverbs 30:5

The scripture says God isn’t a man that he should lie, nor a son of man that he should change his mind. God can be trusted to do what he has said concerning your life. God’s words are pure. They contain nothing worthless or useless. His word is flawless.

Solomon testified that “Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.” 1 (Kings 8:56, NIV)

The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:24, NIV)

Do you know what God had said concerning your life (your situation, your health, your business, your family, your education, your needs, etc)?

If yes, then believe that he will do what he had said.

If no, study his word, and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what God has promised in his word concerning your life.

As you enjoy the benefits of the Lord, or are waiting to receive yours, don’t forget that these physical blessings are temporal. They shall pass away.

By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:7)

God’s Word says this world is reserved for fire.

The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:17)

A day is coming when Jesus will come for God’s children and anyone whose name is not found in the Book of Life shall be thrown into the lake of fire.

Not one of God’s words has ever failed. His word is flawless. He will supply your needs according to His word, and He will also cast you into the lake of fire if your name is not found in the book of life. Therefore live right as you enjoy physical and spiritual blessings.

The Enemy of Your Soul

The enemy (Satan) isn’t after your business, he isn’t after your family, neither is he after any physical thing you have. Satan is after your soul. He knows that you came naked, and you will leave the same. Therefore what matters to him most is your soul.

When your days on earth are over, and your soul leaves the body, where would your soul be? Would it be in eternity with God, or Satan? Nothing really matters to God than your soul for whom Jesus came to die. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Satan, on the other hand, doesn’t want to go to the lake of fire alone. He is after your soul.

Satan knows what you desire, and he is aware of your greatest fear. As a result, he attacks you in the way(s) that will shift your focus from God. He seeks to destroy your love for God. When you take three people for instance, Satan will attack the first one’s family, the second one’s job, and the last one’s properties. He works in various ways but his mission is to make God’s children doubt God’s love for them. When he achieves this, he would then be able to destroy their love for God which in effect will make them his servants.

Satan can also add up to what you have through evil ways which may be right in your sight. You may say “Well, everyone is doing it. It is normal to steal, deceive, lie, etc to make money, or seek dark powers for money.” When He comes this way, remember what Jesus said that “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36, 37 KJV)

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God stays for ever.” (1 John 2:15-17)

Friend Satan is after your soul. However, he can’t touch you when you take delight in the things of God. That is when you allow your love for God to supersede everything you do. In that way, you dwell in the secret place of the Most High and Jesus holds you securely. You walk on the narrow road that leads to eternal life. When you are on the narrow road, you lead a restrictive life. In other words, you limit yourself to the things of God, and that the things of this world mean nothing to you.

“Consider how precious a soul must be, when both God and the devil are after it.” Charles Spurgeon

I pray the Holy Spirit guides you, and protects your soul from the evil one in Jesus’ Name. Amen
