What have you purposed in your Heart?

But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods. Daniel 1:8

I am grateful for what the Lord has done in my life for the first half of the year. It has been a great joy considering where I was at the start of year, and where I am now. I thank Him so much for His goodness and loving kindness.

Today, I want to talk about determination. We are living in the last days. The King of kings would soon come for His own. But what we see in our world is; it is very difficult to distinguish between the chosen and the rest of the world. We live like the people of the world. Let us not forget that Satan and his demons are dictating to the world through the people they have put in authority. But in this are we supposed to shine as light. We are the light of the world. Daniel’s life should be a good example for believer all over the world.

The scripture says Daniel determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to him by the King. He had faith in God so after the 10 days; his countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat. He remembered his God in good times and God never disappointed him.

My question today is;

What have you purposed in your heart in these last days?

In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul said “Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.” So many things are happening around us. People are doing everything they could to survive. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12 NLT. We can do anything to survive but not all is good for us. This calls for us to be careful. We have to determine to live a life that is holy and acceptable. We have to determine that we are not going to defile God’s temple with the “food and wine” Satan has got to offer. Your body is the Temple of the Holy Ghost.

Daniel was offered the best food and wine. It was the King’s order yet he didn’t compromise his integrity. He stood firm for the Lord. If you stand for the Lord, He will stand for you. Daniel knew God as his source of strength and life. How many of us today can do what Daniel did at the office, among friends, in the Church, at home, etc. Christians are more concerned about what people say more than what God says. Let us learn today that we can be better off if we choose to live a life which is holy and acceptable.

What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? You could be the richest man on earth, the famous minister of the Gospel, the best actor of Hollywood, chorister, instrumentalist, usher, etc. You could be the best you want to be but should you lose your soul, you would be the most miserable person on earth. Jesus has been lifted above everything that has name, and He is coming again. Would He find you sleeping or awake? Are you watching?

The world and everything in it is passing away. It has been reserved for fire. Our time to decide where we want to be is now. Now that we have life, and now that we count ourselves among the living. I want to encourage you to purpose in your heart that you wouldn’t defile your body, which is God’s temple, with any portion of the king’s meat. It could a bait Satan is using to get your soul. Beware!

Determine to live for Jesus Christ and Him alone.

God bless you!

I will close with this;

Psalm 141:4 New Living Translation (NLT)

Don’t let me drift toward evil
or take part in acts of wickedness.
Don’t let me share in the delicacies
of those who do wrong.

RESISTING TEMPTATION

Yielding to the temptation is sin which produces death. God understands our weaknesses. He knows we are flesh and blood. And He knows we are from the dust of the earth. The physical body is from the world so it would always seek things from the world. The spirit, on the contrary, is from God. That was why Paul said “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the Flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would” Gal 5:17. In order to effectively resist temptation, take time to feed the Spirit. Study more of God’s Word “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom” Col 3:16 and Pray always. Jesus said “Pray that you will not fall into temptation” Luke 22:40, 46. Pray without ceasing. I Thess 5:17. And each time you Pray, don’t forget what Jesus said in the Lord’s Prayer “…And lead us not into temptation…” Matthew 6:13.

Whenever you have a need, or have a desire for something, there is a possibility that you would be tempted. And the temptation that would come is common to man according to I Corinthians 10:13. God is faithful; He would not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.  When you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

I will close with this;

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, Yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of Grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find Grace to help us in our time of need. Heb 4:15-16

A SECRET PATH

This is what the Lord says – he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters… Isaiah 43:16. God has a secret path in any situation. God has  finished everything about you; your successes, strength, happiness, Joy, Prosperity, healthy life, etc. In fact,  He is not creating anything new so long as your life is concerned. He made the provisions for your needs when you were a spirit being, that is before you came to the womb. Jeremiah 1:9.

A lot of Christians are searching and struggling for things they have already; it is like having Microsoft office on your computer, and since you had no knowledge about that you moved from one place to another in search for one. Quit looking around for help, and start looking inward because streams of living waters will flow from within you; John 7:38. Everything you see around; cars, buildings, trains, aeroplanes, laptops, etc all came from within. People had those ideas on the inside before they came to existence.

God understands your current situation. He is God, He knows everything. He has ways you have never thought of. While you are expecting Him to work things your way, He would use His way. His ways cannot be easily fathomed. In any situation you would find yourself, remember God has a secret path for your escape. His ways are above your ways, and His thoughts, above yours. He is wiser than you are, and His weakness is far greater than your strength; 1 Corinthians 1:25. In Isaiah 42:16, He said I will lead the blind by ways they have not known  which tells me God has ways we do not know. He would use those ways or paths to get us out of any unpleasant situation.

A sea refers to the insurmountable situation you are dealing with now. The situation you think there is no way out. Maybe you are stuck in addiction, Fear has grasped you, friends have betrayed you, business is slowing down, sicknesses, Joblessness, defeat, etc. These, and some others, are the giants most people are facing in their lives. There may seem to be no way out but let me encourage you today that God has a way. He is not going create that way, He already has them planned and well structured.  He created you, and He knows your end. He always has a way where you think there is no way. If you would believe, all things are possible with God on your side.

No matter what you are going through today, I am here to tell you that God has a way. It may not be pleasant but only believe that God has a secret path for you. Like the prodigal son, if we would recognize Him as our Father, our only source in life, he would reveal the secret path to us. Be sure not to turn to the left or right for help. Do not look back either. And do not say the past was good than the present. Be encouraged today to Look forward, move forward, and know that God would not allow you to go through any situation unless he has a purpose for that.

Begin to declare His promises concerning your life as he shows you the secret path in the sea this year. Amen
