Kill Your Doubts: Go Fishing

The only limit to our realisation of tomorrow will be our doubts of today

Franklin D. Roosevelt

A major roadblock to achieving your best is your doubts of today. That is when you feel paralyzed today, your hope for walking into your tomorrow gradually diminishes. Doubt depletes your strength and keeps you locked in the company of wannabes.

This life is like an ocean with fishes enough to feed everybody. God equipped you with strength and skills need to go fishing. However, the size of the boat and tools needed has to be decided and built by you. Some people were fortunate to have ancestors (or parents) who spent years building bigger and stronger boats so they are able to go to deep sea to catch bigger fishes with less strength and confidence.

Maybe your ancestors (or parents) built no boat and all you have is one small wooden boat with paddles. That’s enough to get on water to catch some fish. Here is the thing, regardless of the size of the boat, when you doubt your fishing skills, you will never get on the waters.

What if “I don’t have a boat?” you may ask. Life is against me. My resources can’t afford a boat so I can’t get get some of the fishes. Don’t rule yourself out yet. You can get Fishing cannon or fishing hook. The important thing about Life is that you make an effort to catch some fish.

If you don’t have any tool for fishing, you can get hired by a boat owner and with your skills, you can work to save to buy for yourself some tools.

The bottom line is this: If you doubt yourself, with or without boat, you won’t go fishing. If you doubt your capabilities, someone will get into your place. Whatever you can do today will pave way for better tomorrow for your kids and grandkids. Your misfortune today probably is the motivation you need to start building boats for future generations because the Sea and Fishes will remain while you are gone.
Think about Jack Ma. A teacher in the early 90’s but a Billionaire now. You would agree with me that He has built a bigger boat for his future generations.

Don’t let your doubts stop you from starting a course today. Think about tomorrow and invest in today. Are you ready for Fishing? God is your Strength.

PRIDE GOES BEFORE DESTRUCTION

A man’s pride will bring him low, but he who is of a humble spirit will obtain honor. (Proverbs 29:23 AMP)

Pride is excessive confidence in one’s own worth or abilities. God has strong sanctions against pride. He wants us to have confidence in Him, and not in our own abilities.

In 2 Chronicles 21, satan incited David to take a census. Taking the census wasn’t against God’s law but his motive was wrong. David took pride in his army. He thought he had enough men for battle and forgot that his strength was from above. This was sin in the sight of God so He sent an angel to kill 70000 people. 70000 people were killed because of David’s pride. Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18 NLT)

I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols. (Isaiah 42:8 NLT)

Friend your pride will bring you low. Don’t put your confidence in the family you have, your money at the bank, business, houses, cars, etc. and think your own wisdom, strength, and power fetched you what you have. But Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath. (Deuteronomy 8:18 NLT)

Pride can cause the collapse of your business, it can cause the death of the person you love, it can make you lose your number one client, it can make you lose what you have worked for all the days of your life. 70000 people died because David had wrong motive for taking census.

When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today. For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ “But I assure you of this: If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, worshiping and bowing down to them, you will certainly be destroyed. (Deuteronomy 8:10-14, 17, 19 NLT)

God bless you.

RECEIVING FROM GOD

20121127-085653.jpgFor this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]. (Mark 11:24 AMP)

Some believers quote and believe “Keep on asking and it will be given you”.  (Matthew 7:7 AMP). Yet they do not receive. They ask but they do not receive answers to their prayers. Are you one of such people? Some believe what they asked for may not be the will of God for their lives. Well, I believe such people have not read what Jesus said that “If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.”  (John 15:7 AMP). As a child of God, you always have to abide in Jesus Christ, and His Words must be hidden in your heart. His word must be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. When you live in Him and His words remain in you, your requests are made in line with what His Words say. For instance, you wouldn’t ask for a new car because a friend has got a new car when His Words live in you. The scripture says “be satisfied with what you have”. So when you make request for your selfish desires, God wouldn’t respond. What you ask for must be in line with what His Word says. Friend, when you are in God, His will becomes your will and whatever you ask for will be His will for you.

Why are people asking according to Matthew 7:7 but they are not receiving?

I believe such people have left out what Jesus said in Mark 11:24 20121125-121349.jpgBELIEVE (TRUST AND BE CONFIDENT) IT IS GRANTED TO YOU”. They ask but they doubt God’s power to perform. Abraham had Isaac because he believed in God’s power to perform. He was fully persuaded that God was able to perform. He didn’t doubt God when there was no reason for hope. He believed that God could create new things out of nothing. In the book of James, the apostle said “it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind. For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord”. So dear friend, after you have ask for whatever you need, you must have absolute trust and confident in God. You must be fully persuaded that God will grant you what you have asked for. You don’t have to look at your bank account, your sickness, your fears, your qualification, your business, your wealth, etc. You must trust that God is more than able to grant you what you have requested. Some of us who have applied for Jobs believe that their CVs can fetch them those Jobs. Some folks who are sick believe their money and doctor can heal them. Some people believe that their savings can save them in times of trouble.

These people pray to God but they doubt in their heart that God could bring something out of nothing. doubtingI remember one day a colleague said to me “brother, my CV has not been able to fetch me the Job I need”. I believe God could have gotten him the job he needed even without his CV. Let us believe that ONLY GOD has the power to grant us our needs through His beloved Son Jesus Christ.

Friend, whatever you have asked for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) it is granted to you, and you will get it. God has placed everything you need in Christ Jesus therefore trust that God alone has the power to supply your needs. Do not pause for a minute to ask how God is going to do His work as no one knows how He works. People who tried to understand how God works ended up doubting Him because His thoughts are far above our thoughts. You Job is to believe. ONLY BELIEVE.

And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and [a]let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop. (Mark 11:25 AMP)

cant forgiveJesus spoke about three things we need to do in order to receive what we pray for in Mark 11. In verses 22 and 23, He talked about FAITH. He talked about BELIEVE in verse 24, and FORGIVENESS in verse 25. Forgiving people who have wronged us can be difficult considering the pains, or the harm they might have caused to our lives. But as believers, we have to forgive because our Father in Heaven forgives us when we go wrong. Friend, consider the price God had to pay to set you free from destruction; He sacrificed His only Son. Jesus loved you so much that He gave His life for you. When you choose not to let things go, they hinder answers to our prayers. “Say not, I will do to him as he has done to me; I will pay the man back for his deed.” (Proverbs 24:29 AMP).

I believe we are going to Forgive people for their mistakes, Pray for whatever we need in Faith, and Believe that it is granted to us. And we will get it in Jesus’ Name.

God bless you
