ONLY BELIEVE!

20121125-121349.jpg

But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” (Luke 8:50 ESV)

Do not fear; Only Believe.

You are called a believer because your job is to Believe. Jesus said “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.“(Mark 11:24 ESV). That means after you have prayed, your task is to believe that you have received it. Jairus wanted Jesus to come to his house to heal his daughter. There were some delay so the unexpected happened. The daughter died. The fact was presented but Jesus on hearing the fact answered him “Do not fear; ONLY BELIEVE.” Fear causes us to doubt God. It prevents us from receiving what God has for us. Remember this saying; “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. ” (Mark 11:23 ESV).

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6 ESV). It is not by our might, nor by our power, but by the Spirit of the Most High God. He is responsible for providing our needs. Your strength cannot do it, and your senses are limited by your environment. You believe the news, the doctor’s report, bank statements, financial report, politicians, your pastors, etc instead of believing in the One who has infinite Power to Keep you. When you walk by sight, You will fear. You will be afraid and may start doubting God’s Power to perform. Jairus believed and his daughter came back to life. I could imagine what was going through his mind on his way back home with Jesus, considering what he had heard. He believed what Jesus said. Friends, we don’t have to believe what people say about our situations. The facts may be on the discussion table but choose to believe what God says. When someone told you there was no hope in your situation, what did you do?

As I stated in “Be still and Move on in October“, Satan will present facts for you to believe his lies. He will try as much as he could to make you doubt God. Fear is a weapon he will use But you should not be afraid for Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. (Mark 5:36, 37 NIV84)

Don’t forget your job is to Believe. And to do this, you have to ignore everything that is contrary to the word of God. You have to move with people who will speak faith into your life. Faith is contagious. You have to listen to tapes that will inspire you. And you have to say what the Word of God says.

I want to encourage you to believe what God has said concerning your life. I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. God is our Provider. Only Believe.

God bless us.

THE FAITH OF A WIDOW

It is believed that Money makes the world go round. Yeah, Most people believe that. And I also believe that Faith moves the world. It makes the impossibilities possible. It defies the wisdom of the world. Faith is a powerful weapon.

Faith is the fuel we need as believers. However, having Faith alone is not enough. It must be put to work. A farmer uses his tools before he could harvest. Friends, Faith without deeds is dead.
Today I will talk about how a widow used her faith to turn her mess into message. I pray God grants us Wisdom and Understanding in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the LORD. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.”
“What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?”
“Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied.
And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.”
So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim!
“Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons.
“There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing.
When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.” (2 Kings 4:1-7 NLT)

This is the story of a widow who had nothing but a flask of olive oil. In the natural, she had nothing but God used what she had to transform her life when she believed what Elisha told him.
Think about this:
GOD+0= GOOD
GOOD-GOD= 0

My question is; How many of us, believers, can do what this widow did?

Imagine you have $100 in your account and you have a debt of $10000 to settle. One day, someone tells you to write a cheque of $15000, pray and withdraw from your account.
Would that make sense to you? Are you going to believe what that person had said? Are you going to believe what will only make sense in the reverse?
Someone once said Faith believes in advance what only makes sense in reverse. Faith does not believe in facts. It makes us do what doesn’t make sense in the world to get God’s best for our lives.

One day a lady told me how she believed and went to the exam hall to write her name and ID number on the answer booklet when she knew her sickness would make it impossible for her to write the paper. She told me that all she believed that time was to write her name and everything would be ok. She did that and when the results came, she had “A”. She said “when I went to check my answer booklet, someone had answered all the questions I could have done. Friends, Her faith produced the results she needed. The sickness couldn’t stop God’s power to perform.

Faith is the confidence we have that God can do all things. The Widow believed and acted on what she had heard from the prophet. She didn’t think about the possibilities. She didn’t consult people or history to find out if it had happened before. She, I believe, knew that people may say it wasn’t a good idea. She only Believed. Jesus said “ONLY BELIEVE” Luke 8:50.

My next question is; Do you have the courage to act upon what you have believed?

Peter believed and took steps to walk on the water. The Widow believed and did everything the Prophet told her. In the end, all she wanted came from what she had. Her faith produced the results she wanted.

What do you need in this life?
What is your number one request?
What have you been praying for all these years?
What do you want from the Lord?
Do you have any Faith?

Remember the Widow only had a flask of oil, something natural but her Faith turned it into supernatural. Nothing is too difficult for God. Just close your eyes against all the facts you know because Faith rebels against facts. And Believe in God’s power to perform. Believe that He is Jehovah Jireh. He will Provide.

HIGHER GROUND

I believe this hymn will bless your life today. Sing it out loud if you can.
God bless us.

I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Heaven’s table land;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”
