My Little story; It Pays to Wait

I had my first desktop computer when I was 17 years old. I really loved it because of its features. At 18, I got admission into the University and it happened that I had to leave the desktop computer in the house because of accommodation issues.

When I started school almost everybody I saw had laptop. I felt I was missing out so I called my parents that they should buy me one. I remember telling my parents that “I don’t care about the brand, size, color, drive size, etc. just buy me laptop.”

Mummy told me to wait because she had pressing needs that must be met first. “no, no, no, you can’t say that. I need a laptop for my assignments, I need a laptop to listen to music, I need laptop because every student has one.” I said that on phone one evening. I called their pastor knowing that when the Pastor talks to them, they will buy. The pastor came in and they bought a brand new Packard Bell laptop, which she gave to my cousin who was travelling to my country.

The bad news was that the laptop made an unusual sound and went off the first day I had it. I tried so many times to turn it on but it wouldn’t. I sent it back to the UK for repair. Mummy told me it was ok but the same thing happened when it came back the second time. I was depressed, disappointed, worried, and finally accepted that this laptop wasn’t meant for me. I gave it to a friend who kept it for two years and later told me it got burnt when her room caught fire.

If I had listened to mummy when she told me to wait, all these wouldn’t have happened. She could have saved money, and I could have lived a stress free life.

Lesson:

Sometimes we act like the prodigal son. That is we want things to be done our way. Maybe you are praying for something and it seems God isn’t listening to you. Sometimes if you are not careful, you will give up and doubt God’s power to perform. All things are possible with God.

God knows all things and he has set time for everything under the sun. Don’t forget that thousand years is like a day unto the lord. This means your two or three years of waiting maybe five seconds to God. You may try to use your own way(s) to get what you are praying and hoping for but in the end, like my laptop, you will regret for your impatient.

Friend, be encouraged to wait patiently for the Lord and He will give you what you are praying for when the time is right. It pays to wait.

Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD. (Psalm 27:14, NLT)

Fearing People is a Dangerous Trap

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. (Proverbs 29:25, NLT)

Luke 12:4, Matthew 10:18

Fearing people is a dangerous trap that can lead to eternal destruction in the lake of fire. Fear of people can hinder everything you try to do, especially living righteously and doing the things you really love doing for God. Fear of people affects our relationship with God as we end up pleasing people instead of God.

Some of the reasons that could lead you to be afraid of people are;

  1. death
  2. rejection
  3. humiliation
  4. Insecurity
  5. Etc

Everybody wants to be loved by family and friends. We want to live to enjoy life to the fullest. One thing that most of us forget is that death is a destination we all share. Each person is destined to die once according to Hebrews 9:27. Thus I wonder why some people, including Christians, are afraid to die. Steve Jobs once said “no one wants to die; even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die and get there.” Steve died on October 5, 2011.

You are made up of body, spirit, and soul. Man can only kill, reject, and humiliate the body. Therefore don’t be afraid of what man can do. I will tell you who you should be afraid of, God. He is the One who can destroy both your body and soul. Fear of death will lead you to be afraid of people who threaten to kill you. Paul said “for to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21. Don’t be afraid of death because it is a trap that can lead you into eternal destruction.

The second part of my message is; trusting the Lord means safety. When you fear the Lord, you trust your life under His care. You believe that He alone can change the course of your life, and you find rest in him. There is assurance for the one who fears the Lord;

The eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them in famine. (Psalm 33:18-19)

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. (Psalm 34:7, NIV)

Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. (Psalm 34:9, NIV)

The person who fears the Lord departs from evil, and he is not afraid of what mere mortals can do to him. That person isn’t afraid of demotion, rejection, humiliation, death, persecution, etc., and he is secured in this life, and the life to come (eternal life).

Friend, fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.

The End is near. Jesus is coming soon.

God’s Word can be trusted

20130215-173932.jpgThe Words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (Psalms 12:6, KJV)

Psalms 119:140, Proverbs 30:5

The scripture says God isn’t a man that he should lie, nor a son of man that he should change his mind. God can be trusted to do what he has said concerning your life. God’s words are pure. They contain nothing worthless or useless. His word is flawless.

Solomon testified that “Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.” 1 (Kings 8:56, NIV)

The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:24, NIV)

Do you know what God had said concerning your life (your situation, your health, your business, your family, your education, your needs, etc)?

If yes, then believe that he will do what he had said.

If no, study his word, and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what God has promised in his word concerning your life.

As you enjoy the benefits of the Lord, or are waiting to receive yours, don’t forget that these physical blessings are temporal. They shall pass away.

By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:7)

God’s Word says this world is reserved for fire.

The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:17)

A day is coming when Jesus will come for God’s children and anyone whose name is not found in the Book of Life shall be thrown into the lake of fire.

Not one of God’s words has ever failed. His word is flawless. He will supply your needs according to His word, and He will also cast you into the lake of fire if your name is not found in the book of life. Therefore live right as you enjoy physical and spiritual blessings.
