Dare to be Different

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, KJV)

  • The Questions

I want us to take a moment to answer these questions because when we tell the truth to ourselves, we position ourselves for greatness as we wait for the coming of Jesus Christ.

  • How different are you from people around you, especially unbelievers?
  • Are people able to tell who you are by the way you live?
  • What dent are your leaving for future generations?
  • Would Jesus smile at your everyday life?
  • Is your light shinning?

  • You are Light of the world

Jesus said that “You are the light of the world ” (Matthew 5:14, NLT). Jesus is the Light of the world and he came to live in you from the day you accepted Him into your life. As a result, you became an object that radiate His presence in the world. The world is looking up to you so brighten your corner

  • How do you shine?

When you set yourself apart to demonstrate who Jesus is to the world, you change in state. That is your thoughts, words, and actions are guided by the word of God that enables you to cease from doing what the world does. The word of God changes you to be different from others. You live the Jesus’ Life. That is You live as He lived because a servant isn’t greater than his master. You are motivated to keep on doing good deeds, no matter how small it might be, because people are watching you and you are the mirror they look into everyday. Some people wouldn’t lie, cheat, gossip, fornicate, go to disco or casino, or do anything bad because you don’t do them. It will interest you to know how your life is a benchmark for people around you. As you do what you do because of your love for Jesus Christ, you shine.

  • Light dominates darkness

20130110-070323.jpgLight dominates darkness; it doesn’t matter how big or small it is. The size only determines the coverage. In other words, every little thing you do as christian matters. It has power to change someone’s life and bring glory to your Father in heaven. When you do good to someone in need, or you tell the truth even when it hurts, or you don’t gossip, or you pray for the sick, or you feed the hungry, or you encourage the broken heart, or you don’t cheat on your partner (whether in business or in relationship), or you forgive those who do you wrong, or you seek peace and pursue it, or you don’t fornicate, or you don’t do things like a sinner/unbeliever, or you live holy life, you shine in your corner. It is worthwhile to know that Jesus Christ has given you power to live right. He lives in you. Paul said that he could do all things through Christ who gave him strength. And the same Jesus Christ who gave Paul strength is alive today.

  • Dare to be different

IMG_0545The Christian journey isn’t as easy as some preachers preach. It is not just about talking about what you know but living the word as well. If you want to be different, then you must be ready to face resistance from colleagues, family members, church folks, etc. People will call you names, insult you, persecute you, reject you, and even kill you but choose to please God than man. Jesus said that fear Him who has power to kill you and send your soul to hell.

You are light so keep your light shinning. Never be intimated by what someone does to dim your light. So long as you know that what you are doing is inline with the word of God and your spirit tells you that God is pleased with it, keep doing it. Pray for strength and always be in fellowship with other believers.

Are You Eagerly Waiting for Jesus?

Waiting at airportHe will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him. (Hebrews 9:28, NLT)

We live in societies where it is becoming difficult to distinguish between the good and the bad. It is easy for people to lie, cheat, insult, steal, commit sexual immorality, gossip in the 21 first century and not feel bad at all. People justify the wrong things they do with scriptures. I remember what an accounting lecturer told us in class that “There are 99 ways to hell but 1 way to Heaven”. Jesus put it this way “wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it.” (Matthew 7:13, AMP).

People can continue justifying their wrong doings but the truth is wrong is wrong even when everyone is doing it, and right is right even when nobody is doing it. One thing such people forget is that LIFE is a gift of trust. One day The Owner will come and each person will held accountable for what he/she does with his/her life.

God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad. (Ecclesiastes 12:14 NLT)

Jesus is coming at an hour you least expected. The scriptures say He is coming like a thief at night therefore keep watching so that He does not come to meet you unprepared. Its quite surprising that the focus of the church is shifting to how to live prosperous in a world that is reserved for fire. Less or no emphasis is placed on our readiness for the second coming of Jesus Christ but what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” (Luke 12:39-40, NLT)

When you are eagerly waiting for christ, it means that you are very excited and interest (feeling strong and impatient desire) to remain in a state in which you expect or hope that Jesus Christ second coming will happen soon. In effect, you must be ready like a traveller (with his luggage) at the airport who is waiting for announcement to board his flight. Do not comform yourself to the customs of this world; others may sin but you cannot, others may gossip but you cannot, others may cheat but you cannot, others may lay for themselves treasures on this world but you cannot.

Friend Heaven is your home and Jesus is preparing your room for you. Do you not think that it will be disappointing that after He has prepared a place for you, he comes to see you unprepared? Let us therefore strip off everything that will prevent us from spending eternity with Jesus. JESUS IS COMING SOON.

Are you eagerly waiting for Him? If your answer is No or Maybe, then Repent from anything that is holding you back. Say this prayer

Lord Jesus, please forgive me for every wrong thing that i have committed. Jesus, You are the Son of God, and I believe that God raised you from the dead. Thank you for saving me today and giving me Grace to wait for your second coming. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

God bless you!
