The Beauty of Today

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be happy today!

(Psalm 118:24, ERV)

The beauty of today is that it always comes to us and we always live in it. It is the only day we would ever have. It is tomorrow you said yesterday that you were going to do many things. Today is here. You made a to-do list for it, and you prayed that God helps you make it better than yesterday. Now, it stares at you and wonders what you are going to do with it. What is your excuse today? Today is yesterday’s tomorrow.

Today is the day that you can do stuff. You can do more today than any other day. Thinks about this; Yesterday is gone and nothing can be done except worrying about things you couldn’t do or could have done but didn’t try at all. Better still, you can dwell on yesterday’s successes and get stuck in them. Tomorrow is always in the future and nothing can be done in it except for the planning and hoping for the best, and/or worrying about things you wouldn’t have and can’t do. Today, you have two options; either you do something and build on it tomorrow or do nothing and wait for tomorrow.

God set a perfect example for us in the scripture where from Genesis to Revelation, we see the Creator always projecting what would happen in the future but always working in the Present. In Genesis 1, God worked in each day (Today) without going back to yesterday to make corrections or jumping into tomorrow to lay foundations for its activities. He focused on each day and made it beautiful.

Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

(Matthew 6:34, MSG)

You have this perfect gift called Today. It’s beautiful so give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. Today is the only day you have, and the only day you can be active and be productive. You can work on your yesterday’s plans bearing in mind that every little step counts. Again, you have to drop the charges you have laid on yourself for your failure to act yesterday and trust that your tomorrow would be better than today because on this day, you are laying the required foundation for it(tomorrow). Are you ready to give your best today? God bless you!
