Proving people wrong is easy but proving yourself wrong is hard. You can’t lie to yourself about yourself. Don’t get confused yet. Let me put this way; the way people see you isn’t as important as the way you see yourself because people’s perception about you don’t define you but yours do.
How do you see yourself?…Pause and Reflect: Are you trapped into assessing your self-worth by good things people say about you, or the likes you get for your (edited) photos/videos, or by the accolades you get for your works? These are all good but they aren’t enough to be used as benchmark. The danger is that if they turn negative, your doom’s day is near. You can be depressed, unhappy, insecure, etc.
Your true worth is in HOW you see yourself and WHAT to say to yourself about yourself.
How do you do that?
You can do that by starting to see yourself the same way as God sees you and continue saying to yourself what God says about you. In Luke 12:7, Jesus said “And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” You are valuable to God. I believe one reason why Jesus read the psalms, and the disciples did same, and why we should do same is that they present perfect picture about how God sees and values us. For instance Psalm 139:15-16 reads
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
(Psalm 139:15-16, NLT)
Therefore study the scriptures and listen to what God says about you. These would enable you to hold yourself high. In the end, all you need is God’s approval not man.
Conclusion:
Know that God loves you so much to have allowed Jesus to die for you. He cares so much to supply all your needs, and He is jealous enough to protect you as He would guard His own eyes. You are His Masterpiece that’s why your fingerprint is unique. There can’t be another you in any way or form that’s why you should present yourself as God’s precious possession. Be confident about YOU.
Finally, Be careful about people who compare you with themselves or other people, saying things like “you’re better than me, or that fellow, etc”. If there should be any comparison, it should about what you did then (Past) and now (Present), and how you can be better (Future).
