“ONE THING”

One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. Psalm 27:4.

I have come to realize that in life, there is always one thing a person can’t do without. You may give him everything yet he wouldn’t be happy till he gets that thing. It could be anything. I dressed up for a party. The dress was good but at a point, I couldn’t find my tie; the tie that would match my outfit. I searched everywhere… I couldn’t find it and that made me unhappy throughout the hours I spent at the party. That one thing spoilt my day.

Friends, our days are numbered and you can only choose one thing at a time. The world is ruled by two forces; the Power of Light/Knowledge and the Power of Darkness/Ignorance. You can only choose one. The world is ruled by One Master (God), and one who wants to be a master (Satan). You can only serve one.

You can do one thing at a time. I heard a story of one American President. He held a meeting with his vice and others. At the same time, his child was disturbing. A member asked if the president could talk to the child. The president responded he could only do one thing at a time. Either he rules America or takes care of his child. He can’t do both. This is what I mean, you can’t live on earth, claiming you have Jesus, yet your works don’t show. The only difference between an unbeliever and yourself is you go to church on Sundays. Jesus said that so long as we want to be His disciples, we should let our Lights shine.

You can’t love God, and love the world at the same time. You can do one at a time. In I John 2:15; we are told “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” Some believers today love worldly songs, dresses, and show much interest in worldly movies. We are on this earth but we don’t belong here. We are visitors; God brought us here for a purpose therefore it is quite unnecessary trying to be like others who have neglected God, and His son Jesus Christ. Ephesians 3:16 tells us the kind of songs we should sing and pay attention to. You can’t love Spiritual songs and Worldly songs at the same time. What is your favourite song? Who is your favourite artist? Who is your favourite movie star? Better still, who is your favourite celebrity? What do they do? Does that bring glory to God?

You can love one person at a time. Our words are powerful; Read on how Esau sold his birthright to Jacob and you would know the choice of Words you have to use daily in all situations.  Some of us in relationships, do make some confessions that don’t glorify the Father. When a married man tells the wife “I love you with all my heart” he says that to himself as it is written, the two shall become one. However, any relationship that is not marriage involves two people. For instance When I tell a lady I love her with all my heart (while am not married to her), I am confessing that she has my heart (which belongs to God as a bachelor). Some folks even say “I’ve given my whole heart to you”.  No wonder we suffer broken hearts in the long run. Jesus said the first commandment is “Love the Lord your God with all your heart….” You can’t love two Master. If you are not married, God has an issue with your confession that you love a boyfriend or girlfriend with all your heart. Search yourself, have you said that before?

Where would you spend eternity? Heaven or Hell? You can’t be at the two places at the same time. You must choose one. Think twice and know that One thing can take you to either Heaven or Hell.

Paul said in Philippians 3:13 that “one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead”

I would advise you take some time to think about your life. What One thing do you need to change from?

And what One thing do you need to improve in your life? Pray to God for strength.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

STORMS OF LIFE

I am not comfortable talking about storms because they are not friendly; they cause pains, fear, worries, etc. I have seen how storms killed many, destroyed properties, changed lives from good to bad. To put it briefly, storms are unfriendly. From the scripture, Jesus was walking on the water. Peter asked if he could join, and Jesus accepted. This means that God has given us freedom and Power to do what He did through Jesus. God has enabled us to do extraordinary things on earth. Peter walked on the water But something took his attention; the STORM. He started sinking when his heart was swept away by what he saw. When His focus was on Jesus, all was well.

Storms refer to the negative situations, fear, etc that come our way. They refer to sicknesses, double mindedness, pains, addictions, rejections, etc that Satan throws at us. Storms come to distract us from reaching our divine destination. In Peter’s life, the storm came to stop him from getting to Jesus.  Our attitudes when the pains, fear, sickness, defeat, rejection, etc come are important. We must maintain positive attitude in the midst of storms.

When David faced Goliath, he didn’t focus on the giant. His focus was on God. He saw God as a Supreme Being who has Power to deliver Goliath to him. Any time Satan attacks your family, business, happiness, etc, turn to Jesus. His strength will be your strength, and you will be able to put Satan where he belongs. Stop focussing on the storms, and start practicing the Word. Jesus said in Matthew 7 that ““Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Paul also said this “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Christ is our strength.

Storms are inevitable. They are weapons Satan uses to shift our focus from Jesus, so that he can attack. As a child of God, when you start to sink, cry for help. The bible says the Name of the Lord is a strong tower, Proverbs 18:10. You will find refuge there. In Hebrews 12:2, we are advised to fix our eyes on Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus is bigger than cancer, diseases, fear, worry, etc. Don’t cry when Satan attacks your family, school, job, etc. Look to Jesus.

When Satan attacks with his weapons, faith is what you need. In Ephesians, we are told to use the shield of Faith to quench the fiery darts of the devil. Faith believes in advance what only makes sense in reverse. You must exercise your faith to see your victory in Christ.

Storms are not meant to stay forever. In Matthew 14:32. And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. When you find rest in Christ, every storm will die down.” When Christ is lifted above every situation, He works wonders in life. He must reign over every situation. Keep God the first place and He will take you to places you never imagined.

It is well.

GIVE THANKS

In this life always find something to thank God for. No job, money, child, customers, friends, sweetheart yet thank God that you have life. Quit worrying about what you don’t have and begin to thank God for the most important thing you have today – life. I want to encourage you to give thanks. Give thanks for your life. Give thanks for your family and friends, and give thanks for everything you have.

After so many years of hardworking, this is what I have come to realise; life is not about food, drinks, clothes, mansions, cars, job, money, latest technology, etc. there is more to life than these.

If you can walk, give thanks

If you can sing, give thanks

If you can feel something is hot when it touches the tongue, give thanks.

If you can scratch parts of the body, give thanks.

If you can raise your hands, give thanks.

If you can see, give thanks.

You can find so many avenues to give thanks to the Creator of the universe for His love and support.

I saw two people today. In fact, I couldn’t just stop giving thanks to God for my life. I have realised that getting up from bed, even to the bathroom worth than billions of Pounds Sterling put together. I have leant that going to the kitchen to get something for myself is something I have to thank God for. The first person I saw today couldn’t talk. He couldn’t go to the bathroom to bath, kitchen to get food of his choice, lounge to watch TV. He lived in a big house yet he is restricted to a portion of a room, on a hospital bed. Friends, no matter what you are going through this moment, if you can go to the kitchen, get up from bed; go to the washroom, etc give thanks to God for he is worthy.

The second one has some few days to live according to doctor’s report (human knowledge). He lies on his bed 24/7. He can’t talk, sit up, etc. Friends, if you can pick phones to make or receive calls, give thanks.

God is working behind the scenes for us. At the right time, we will see His goodness. David said “I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Every day, when you get up from bed, say this to yourself:  “I am still confident that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Give thank.
