3 Ways to Win Against Satan’s Strategy

I want to talk about how to win against your #1 enemy’s strategy to stop your from winning. Many times he tries to scare us from living the higher life. His main objective is to keep us reaching our full potential or being best at what we do.

The enemy operates with a simple strategy. That is he attacks first, sometimes with a thought or through an agent. He believes that if he could distract/disturb/stir up your idea(s), goal(s), desire(s), vision, purpose, etc at conception, then he would win.

3 Stages of His attacks:

  1. Thought Bombs:
    • He throws thoughts bomb when you begin to conceptualize what you want to achieve. At this stage, you battle with an invisible force.
    • Hence the question: “what if I FAIL? What if it doesn’t work? Am I qualified etc“.
    • At this stage, you are attempted to formulate 1001 reasons why you will fail, or get disappointed, or be humiliated, and anything negative you could think of.
    • His purpose is to scare you enough to quit.
  2. He uses People:
    • When you overcome the first stage, he uses people to stop you. It could be family, friend(s), mentor, pastor, expert, etc
    • Be mindful at this stage because it can be subtle. Folks will show you much they love, care, or are concern about you, and give you reasons why you should give up.
    • Sometimes you would may have to deal with persecution, hate, hostility, mockery, etc. For instance when Jesus told the crowd in Matthew 9:24 that “The girl isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”… the crowd laughed at him.
  3. He presents FACTS:
    • It is said that “Facts don’t lie“.
    • At this stage, he knows your own thoughts couldn’t stop you, neither were people so he presents facts to you.
    • If it’s a trip you wan’t to take, he would present facts about how many people died or got infected with bla bla disease(s). If it’s an exam you want to take, the Fail rate is enough to scare you. If it’s marriage, divorce rate. If it’s new business, the number of businesses collapse within first year, etc.

David went through these stages before FACING Goliath. His CONVICTION was strong so the enemy started with PEOPLE; His own brother. He turned away from him, only for Saul to present FACTS about Goliath. But David was undaunted by the situation and proceeded to defeat Goliath.

3 Ways to Win Against The Enemys Strategy

  1. Study the Word of God:
    • Get to know what God’s Word says about your situation. When the enemy tempted Jesus on food, Jesus quoted scripture about food. When he tempted Jesus on worship, Jesus quoted scripture about worship.
    • Satan is experienced in what he does so your ignorance about the Word (concerning your situation) would make you vulnerable.
    • Therefore be prepared before he attacks. Create time to study the Word to build your Faith.
  2. Pray Always:
    • Make time to talk to God about everything. It’s important because when everyone else turns their back on you, God wouldn’t. Talk to God based on the revelation you receive through studying the Word.
    • God knows the end from the beginning so He is able to direct your steps, despite oppositions, to achieve your purpose.
    • Don’t wait for trouble or the enemy’s attacks before you pray because building spiritual muscles takes time and sacrifices.
  3. Face the Target:
    • When you spend time studying His Word and talking to Him, it won’t be long before He shows you what to do. It’s spontaneous if you are really committed to Him.
    • Act on what He tells you. The truth is that God’s strategy wouldn’t make sense per human reasoning. This is because His ways are far above our ways…Isaiah 55:9.
    • Be courageous and work towards achieving your goal, desire, purpose, etc because God will ensure that His strategy revealed to you works.

The enemy wants you to abort your dreams so don’t give him the foothold to plant his seed of deception on your fertile ground. Get closer to God and you will win every day.

Day 2: Breaking Free from Addictions

The one who practices sin [separating himself from God, and offending Him by acts of disobedience, indifference, or rebellion] is of the devil [and takes his inner character and moral values from him, not God]; for the devil has sinned and violated God’s law from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3:8, AMP)

Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy. This is the good news we have as believers. Addictive behavior roots from a pattern we programme on our mind. Then it becomes something we do, sometimes, unconsciously. We may not even realize how it affects or hurts people around us, especially when all we care about is satisfying that short term desire. For instance a spouse who cheats on the other cares more about how to satisfy his/her sexual desires than how the other feels. It hurts God too that is why Jesus came to pave a way for us to be free.

As stated in Day 1, it’s not just about more sugar, smoke, caffeine, sex, drug, etc but it’s about looking at the broader picture; how the enemy wants to destroy your special gifts, talents, purpose, strength, and/or your body.

God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. (1 Cor 3:17, NLT)

  • 3 Remedies to Consider in dealing with Addiction:
  1. Commit to Prayer:
    • The first step is to commit to prayer and fasting. This is a battle between the Spirit and the Flesh. In effect, the more you feed the spirit, the more you subdue the flesh and its desires.
    • Prayer is one way to grow spiritually. Talk God about the struggle you face with the habit(s) and let him know your willingness to change. He will answer your request and give you more strength to win.
    • Fasting will help you discipline the body and it’s very good spiritual exercise
  2. Commit to His Word:
    • The Psalmist said “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11, NLT) Get to know the Word and what it says about your situation. Always remember that The Word will help you to win when the tempter comes.
    • Study the word daily and read more materials that will help you grow deeper in His Word. The more you study, the clearer you begin to see answers to your challenge
  3. Guard your Thought:
    • Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]. (Ephesians 4:27, AMPC)
    • Every behavior starts with a thought. yeah! some small voice that prompt you that it’s time.
    • This thought becomes a foothold for the enemy to act. But as you pray and study God’s word, pray that the Holy Spirit helps you change you into a new person by changing the way you think.
    • A quick way to deal with negative thought is to replace with a good one. Therefore when the nudge comes, quickly run to the Word and direct the feeling to something positive.

Handle One day at a Time:

Do your Best each day and keep track of your progress. If you slip along the road, don’t give up. Maintain your composure and move forward. At the end of the day, it’s not about how many times you fell but about how you successfully finished your race. You can be Free. It’s just a decision away. GOD IS UP TO SOMETHING

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

When you are down to nothing, God is up to something. When Joseph was down to nothing, God was up to something. God has a secret path in the sea. I don’t know what you are going through today. It may be as deadly as the Children of God before the red sea but your Father in Heaven will deliver you before your enemies get closer. Remember His ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

You may be down to nothing, but I can tell you God is up to something. Don’t see your situation as setback. It is going to set you up for something greater and better in Jesus’ Name. We walk by Faith, not by sight. Don’t settle for what your eyes could see. Live beyond your boundaries. You may be down today but God will do wonders in your life tomorrow. Only Believe.

Why worry when you can Worship?

Why panic when you can pray?

Be encouraged that when you are down to nothing, God is up to something.

God bless you.
