FERVENT PRAYER

20121127-085653.jpg

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. (James 5:16 NLT)

Nations have trust in their weapons. I saw what Israel did with its weapons about two weeks ago in the Middle East. When it comes to war, one thing a nation could rely on is the weapons it has. But as Christians, the weapons of our warfare are not canal. We do not war with physical weapons. Our number one weapon is Prayer. The devil tempts us everyday. In other words, the least chance he gets, he tempts us. Thus Jesus said Pray that you do not fall into temptation.

Have you reviewed your prayer life lately?

Jesus our High Priest set the pace for us to follow: He was tempted so he told us we would be tempted. He walked in Faith so he encourages us daily to walk in faith. He never worried so he us told in Matthew not to worry about anything. He fasted and prayed, so we must fast and pray. “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.” (Luke 18:1 NLT)

I read Luke 22:44 today and I was surprised at what I saw. The Scripture says “He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.” (Luke 22:44 NLT). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, prayed more fervently…that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood? If the Son of God could pray more fervently when he saw what was ahead, what must we do in the day of trouble? What must we do when we are surrounded by enemies? What must we do when we are hit by storms of life? What must we do when the devil steals the joy in our homes, businesses, relationships, etc? I believe we have to pray more fervently.

Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops. (James 5:17, 18 NLT)

Be encouraged that Your earnest prayer has great power and produces wonderful results. Therefore Keep asking and it shall be given unto you. Never cease praying.

God bless you

God bless you!

Is anything too hard for the LORD?

Is anything too hard for the LORD? My answer is NO. All things are possible with Him. I have come to realize that I don’t have to understand everything that is happening in my life. Instead what I have purposed to do is to trust that God, in His infinite Wisdom, will work things out for my good. His ways are above my ways, and His thoughts, above my thoughts.

The first question people ask when they face difficulties, or think about their future (education, job, family, friendship, relationship, etc.) is HOW WILL THIS BE? How am I going to get this job done? How am I going to stop this addiction? How am I going to change this child? How am I going to keep this marriage? How am I going to pay my fees? How am I going to pay my employees? Etc.

Abraham, Zachariah, Mary, and others asked this question when they were told about what would happen in their future. It is no surprising that people keep on asking this question day in and day out. As I have already stated, we don’t have to understand everything about this life. All we have got to do is to trust that God will work things out for our good. He is the Creator and knows the best for His children.

When Mary asked “How will this be since I am a virgin?” Gabriel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. FOR NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD.” Luke 1:34-37. Mary believed and said “May it be to me as you have said.” I pray we believe everything His Word says about us in Jesus’ Name. Amen

Again, when people asked Jesus, “Who then can be saved?” in Luke 18, He replied, “WHAT IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH MEN IS POSSIBLE WITH GOD.” Luke 18:26-27

And in Genesis 18:13, 14 “Then the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the LORD?”

Friends, we have not been to heaven to see what God can do but the testimonies from Gabriel, and Jesus should be enough evidences for us to believe that NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR THE LORD. Satan knows this so he tries to trick us to believe all his lies. Don’t believe his lies and trust that God can do all things in Jesus’ Name. God works with your Faith.

I don’t know what you may be going through today but what I do know is what you think, or have come to believe is impossible with you is possible with the Great I AM.  Your job is to believe in Him, and in His Power to perform whatever you need. Anything is possible if a person believes. Mark 9:23 NLT

The things God wouldn’t do for you are those you believe He can’t.

Put the devil to shame by answering this question; Is anything too hard for the LORD?

Let us do this exercise: Write all your needs on paper and mark those you believe God can do within the next 72 hours. We walk by FAITH, and not by sight. ONLY BELIEVE, give THANKS.

I will close with this;

Jeremiah 32:27 NLT

“I am the LORD, the God of all the people of the world. Is anything too hard for me?

ONE ACT OF KINDNESS

When hope is lost, I believe one act of kindness could turn things around.

Thank You Father for Your gift of life today, and it is my prayer that You open our eyes so that we do not miss the hour of Your visitation. Amen!

I want to talk about Peter today. Luke chapter 5 tells a story about Peter, his companions, and Jesus. From the story, Peter had worked for the whole night and he could not catch anything. He thought it was all over and I believe he probably might have said “today is a bad day, nothing in the net. Let me wash me wash these net and go home”. In the natural, there was no hope. However, something happened; a man showed up and asked for a favour. He helped this Man. Peter did not for anything but the Man said “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch”. I would have said the same thing as Peter did and even added more. My version would have been; “hey man, do you know what you are talking about, and by the way, what experience do you have in fishing. I had worked all night. It is time for me to go home. Thanks but no thanks”.

Logically, it would be unwise to do what the Man asked Peter to do but Peter obeyed and the response was marvellous. Things turned around for good. He regained his hope and even called for help.

Friends, life may throw so many challenges at us. You might have tried so many things but have failed to produce a “single fish”. I could say you are discouraged because you do not see any hope in what you are doing. It could be your job, relationship, family, etc. I pray you do not let that situation hinder you from doing good to people. Abraham helped some strangers, who happened to be angels. And Peter helped a man, who happened to be the Son of God. Some years ago, I helped a woman. I gave her money for transport. Something strange happened; after I had given her the money, I turned after some seconds and she was nowhere to be found.  Friends, I ran because I thought I had seen a ghost. Later, I heard a voice telling me she was an angel. The good news was I received something I had been praying for so long through miraculous way.

I want to encourage you that do not let your situation hinder you from helping people because ONE ACT OF KINDNESS could turn things around for your good.

I will close with what Paul said in Hebrews 13:2;

Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!
