Wait on the Lord (Part 1)

God's timeOne word that people don’t want to hear is “wait”. Yet it is constant in our daily activities: we wait in traffic, we wait at the airport, we wait for bus, we wait for results, we wait for investment to mature, we wait for our sweethearts, etc. We wait for physical things, things that are not so important in the sight of God. However, when it comes to our relationship with God, we expect him to answer immediately. About three years ago, I was on transit and we were told to wait for two hours in Rome because the weather was bad. None of us complained as it was something we had no control over. We waited with expectancy knowing that when the weather gets better, we will fly home safely. Friend, I believe this is how God’s works; He waits for everything to fall in place before He supplies our need.

God has set time for every activity under heaven. There is time to sow, and time to reap. There is time to get pregnant, and time to give birth. The truth is God’s calendar doesn’t work like ours. He waits for the right time to supply our needs. All you need to do is to WAIT PATIENTLY ON THE LORD. The scripture says God has made everything beautiful for its own time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

We are living in a “fast forward” society where things keep changing each day. If we are not careful, we may be tempted to live like the rest of the world. In the scriptures, Elijah sent message to king Ahab that he should run because the rain was coming. King Ahab took the lead on his chariot but when Elijah started to run, the scripture says he outran King Ahab who was on his chariot. This tells us that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can do things faster than the rest of the world. Don’t follow the multitude to do evil, or to do things that are contrary to what God wants you to do. Notice king Ahab had chariot, and he took the lead. He was moving fast. Yet Elijah got to the destination before he did.

People around you may be rushing to get things done but when you wait for the Lord, at the right time, He will give you special strength to outrun those who have taken the lead.

I will close with this:

This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. (Habakkuk 2:3, NLT)

JESUS CARES!

Sometimes we smile

Sometimes we cry

Sometimes we laugh

Sometimes we starve

Sometimes we have enough to eat

Sometimes we are hurt

Sometimes we are happy

Whatever it is, Jesus is Lord

He is a true friend who cares

He will never leave you, nor forsake you

He said “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Do you need rest today? Open your mouth and talk to the Jesus.

He cares!

THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16 NLT)

The Holy Spirit is the greatest treasure we have. He lives in us, talks with us, teaches us want to do, how to do it, and when to do it. He is our companion. The truth is we are nothing without Him. We are the most fortunate generation to have experienced the Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit is the source of our Power; power to accumulate wealth, power to cast out demons, power to heal diseases, power to defeat the enemy, etc. Jesus said you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” (Acts 1:8 NLT)

The Spirit of God can make you do things in extraordinary ways. In the Old Testament, each time the Spirit of God came upon someone, that person did something beyond human comprehension. For instance, when the The Power of God came upon Elijah in 1 Kings 18:46, the scripture says he outran Ahab who was on his chariot all the way to Jezreel, which was about 23 miles.

Samson was able to tore a lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat when the Spirit of God came upon him. (Judges 14:6 NIV84)
At other time too, he was able to kill thousand philistines with the jawbone of a donkey when the Spirit of God came upon Him. (Judges 15:14, 15 NLT)

Now all the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples joined forces and crossed over the Jordan and camped in the Valley of Jezreel. Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, summoning the Abiezrites to follow him. (Judges 6:33, 34 NIV84)

In those days, the Spirit of God came upon them and they were able to do mighty works. They received Power each time they had such encounter. However, the Spirit of God lives in us now. Hallelujah! Our bodies are His temple.

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, (1 Corinthians 6:19 NLT)

The Power that came upon Elijah, Samson, Gideon, Deborah, David, and the others is in you. Therefore when you come against any giant like David, don’t be troubled or dismayed. Trust in the Power you have on the inside of you. You are well able to defeat any giant. When people have taken the lead in life; buying houses, cars, better jobs, etc, never get jealous because the Holy Spirit can thrust you forward. You have Power to outrun them. When people are coming together against you like Gideon, know that God has equipped you with strength. You can defeat them with less energy. God will fight the battle for you. When encounter any uncomfortable situation like Samson before the lion, never be discouraged because you are more than able to tear that lion apart in Jesus’s Name.

Friend you are different from the people of the world. You have His Excellency the Holy Spirit on the inside. Nations of the world have trust in their weapons, so as believers, we must also rely on the Power we have on the inside of us. The Holy Spirit is all you need to live a stress free life, and to succeed in this life.
