What If It Works?

Within heroes lies the feeling of fear, worry, anxiety, self-doubt, etc. But what they do is that despite what tends to hold them back, they gather the courage to move ahead. They trust this inner voice that gives them hope that “what if it works?“.

In your deliberations about your plans for this life, pay close attention to your spirit being. He/she whispers amid the clouds of doubt, “What if it works?”

If there is a 1% chance that you will succeed, give it a try? What if it works?

While thinking about this message, I calculated Gideon’s chances of success in the book of Judges. He planned to go to war with 32000 troops but God reduced it to 300, which is 0.94% of his planned number. The irony is that his 32000 was about 4 times lower than the Midianite army. Now, put it in a context where he is going up against an army of about 135000. What was Gideon’s chance of success? Your guess is as good as mine, 0. Was Gideon afraid? Yes. But he trusted in what God had said and he won.

As a child of God, He has given you His Word: “Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.” (Isaiah 41:10, MSG)

In this year, you will feel fear. Anxiety will knock at your door. The News will look bad. And of course, you are going to have a sense of self-doubt. But you’ve got to keep going because God is with you. Every little step will matter. And remember that slow motion is better than no motion. Steven Covey put it this way; Where you are going is more important than how fast you are going. Don’t let the feelings stop you. What if it works?

Count Your Blessings (1min Read)

One way to win the fight against worry, anxiety, doubt, and little faith is to count your blessings. It’s profound and easy yet somehow difficult to do. I believe its a challenge for many believers because the enemy wouldn’t allow them to do. O yeah! it becomes easier to pick phone to complain than to get into solitude mood to honor God for His goodness and mercy.

Weekend Experience:

Last weekend when the enemy bombarded me with many thoughts in attempt to hijack my joy, I tried this little trick. I picked my pen, notepad, cup of coffee, with some classical worship songs, I began to write my blessings in 2018. It was amazing to see over three pages of things God has done in my life. Guess what, I ended up worshiping and praising God for His benefits which transformed the atmosphere I was in.

Little Things Matter:

Often people look at their major unmet needs and think that God isn’t working in their lives. But what they fail to acknowledge is that little things matter.

Little drops of water make the mighty ocean.

Everything God does in your life matters, whether big or small. Therefore don’t expect to see a big break before you give him thanks. Sometimes the little blessings lead to bigger ones.

Count Your Blessings:

Within the next 30 seconds, I want you to cast your mind back from January and begin to count the many things God has done in your life. If He could do a thing for you, then He is able to accomplish what He has begun.

Don’t allow situations, people, and your thoughts limit what God can do in your life. The more you count your blessings, the more you give Him Praise. And the more His Glory comes upon your life.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good (Psalm 118:1, NIV)

Battling Anxiety? (1min read)

Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool Superstar) came out this week to talk about his long time battle with anxiety. It was a bold decision frankly, considering his fame and successful career. A number of celebrities came out to express their views on the subject, which I can conclude that everyone battles with anxiety sometimes.

Anxiety according to Oxford dictionary is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome.

The feeling of anxiety comes naturally when you decide to step out of your comfort zone but how you respond determine whether you would overcome it or you would be screwed. I remember many days in my life when I had to battle thoughts, especially with fear of the unknown. And the “What if” questions: what if I fail? what if it doesn’t work? what if I am not chosen? what if…this or that? Twas very difficult as I couldn’t talk to everyone about my situation.

I thank God for the Bible. I thank God for Philippians 4:6. This scripture was the antidote to my situation. It reads  “Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.” (AMP, Emphasis added).

I started talking to God about my situation, highlighting every little details about it. I didn’t hold back on anything because I realized that friends and family may judge me wrongly but God wouldn’t. As time passed, I started experiencing what the Apostle said in Verse 7; And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

To make it quicker, I combined the above scriptures with what Jesus said in Matthew 6: 25-31:

“Therefore I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by worrying can add one hour to [the length of] his life? And why are you worried about clothes? See how the lilies and wildflowers of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin [wool to make clothing], yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory and splendor dressed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive and green today and tomorrow is [cut and] thrown [as fuel] into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’

guard your heartAs you STRETCH beyond your boundaries, the enemy will throw thought bomb at every step you take. He will try to stop you with negative thoughts so guard yourself with the WORD so that you will be able to put him where he belongs.

Can you write ONE THING you think God can’t provide?

I bet your answer is as good as mine. Therefore Don’t be anxious about anything in this life because God is more than able to supply everything you need. He is the Creator of everything we see. He spoke and the world came to existence. I believe He will SPEAK for your situation to turn around. ALL you have to do is to Ask and Believe that He will work in ways Best known to Him.
