Finding Peace In Chaos

The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.

(Exodus 14:14, NLT)

It is difficult to remain calm in a chaotic situation. The story about the disciples’ reactions on a boat with Jesus when the storm came up against them shows how we react in the face of danger or death. Steve Jobs pointed out that “no one wants to die. Even those who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there“. Inasmuch as this quote is funny, there is some truth in it. People, including believers, panic when they see or sense danger. Yet it is possible to stay calm in the face of danger, or even death. The assurance is knowing that God will come through for you.

  • The Chaos

Merriam-Webster defines chaos as a state of utter confusion. When you look at the world today, it is evident that there is chaos everywhere; Covid19, the Ukraine – Russia conflict, the threat of Nuclear war, Inflation, High gas/oil prices, Abortion debate, Gun violence, Racial injustice, and the indoctrination threat posed by social media.

The real value of your Dollar, Pound, Euro, Yen, etc has fallen. According to Finbold, In 1972, the worth of one dollar was $1, but by 2022, the value of a dollar has dropped by an incredible 86%, to $0.14. This should trouble everyone because if you are not increasing in wealth or income, then you are becoming poorer by the day. Soon your dollar cannot afford the things you need.

Yet in the midst of this chaos, where every indicator set out by the world system suggests that the world is heading south, there is a remedy for you as a child of God.

  • Your Remedy:

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

(Romans 12:2, NLT)

Your prayer and request must be that God should transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. That is God, through His Holy Spirit, should help you to shape your thoughts by your knowledge of Him and His Word which supersede every known idea or knowledge of the world.

Know that before there was money, He was. Consider these two scenarios:

  1. When Jesus needed food to feed the multitude, his disciples who operated by the world system said that there was not enough food to feed them. And if they had to buy, it would cost them more than half a year’s wages. However, Jesus looked up to God for the solution to this impossible situation. Jesus lived beyond scarcity, the concept of money, and the peace the world had to offer.
  2. When they needed wine for the wedding feast, Jesus turned water into wine. Again, He defied the concept of money.

Before Jesus Christ, the Wiseman had said that money answereth all things (Ecclesiastes 10:19). But Jesus presented a new dimension where you can get your healing without spending money at the hospital as in the case of the woman with the issue of blood.
The two scenarios should encourage you to live beyond the world’s system which is supposedly built to enhance Equality but it’s purely premised on the Master-Servant concept.

To live beyond the world system, you must stay connected to God at all times. The more connected you are, the more tranquility you experience.

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

(2 Corinthians 9:8, NLT)
  • Look into Future with Hope

Do you know that Gideon called God Jehovah Shalom, The Lord is Peace, when he was up against the Midianites?

There is Peace and Calmness when you know that God will come through for you regardless of the situation. Do not let your world be shaped by the world system but see the world through the lens of His Word. This will give you peace which would enable you to make informed decisions about your life, job, family, etc.

I pray that God blesses you with peace that surpasses all understanding so that you shall be able to stand and live victoriously in these last days in Jesus’ Name. Amen

You’Re Not Alone

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

(Joshua 1:9, AMP)

The Lord your God is with you wherever you go today, this week and beyond. God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous because he was going to face different challenges as a leader. He was going to make history that would be talked about thousands of years later. The magnitude of his task was so huge that he couldn’t have gone alone so God assured him of His presence.

  • Why would God command and insist that Joshua should be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:6,7,9)? Three things to consider:
    1. He was going to deal with his own people by giving them their inheritance as promised by God. Remember that Moses had been the leader since exodus from Egypt and this new role would require firmness and courage.
    2. He was also supposed to set standard for Israel to follow as a leader. This would require him to adhere to every command God had given to Moses. There were deviants among them therefore it was necessary for God to echo the need to be firm and courageous in practicing what the law says. There were no pick and choose to fit narratives in order to condone sin.
    3. Finally, He was going to enter new territories with hardcore enemies equipped with advanced technologies. Having heard the news about Jericho and its formidable walls, his own experiences with the giants on the promised land, and the knowledge Jordan river before them, God had to reassure Joshua of His presence in the situation and the need for him to be composed and charged for the places and people he had to conquer.

These three considerations are applicable in your daily life:

  1. You’re on earth for divine assignment and what you do in any day would have cumulative effect on what you leave behind. Like Joshua, God chose you to lead and claim the inheritance for your family and other dependents. These dependents could be your employees, friends, church members, colleagues, etc. They depend on your for their spiritual and/or physical wellbeing therefore don’t take the position you occupy for granted. God has your there for His purpose. He is with you and you’ve got to be strong and courageous to complete your given assignment.
  2. God expects you to keep every word in His Word. It takes courage to say and do the word of God. Cowardice enables people to obey some part of the scriptures that fit their narrative for the moment. That’s why it is difficult for some Christians to say (publicly) that homosexuality is a sin according to God’s command. God wants you to be strong and courageous when it comes to your stance on the scriptures because your deviation (or compromise) will send wrong signal to those who look up to you for direction.
  3. Finally, Today is a new territory. You have no idea how the day would be and what your enemies have planned. You don’t know the enemies you would meet in traffic, at grocery store, at work, etc. The news reports may send waves of fear and panics, and other things you would least expect. In spite of these, God has assured you of His presence in the day therefore be strong and courageous. Your God on your side means that no weapon formed against you shall prosper and those who stand against you shall be reduced to nothing. Jordan rivers before you will give way for you, and every wall of Jericho shall fall.

When you see the Sun rise in the morning, remember that God is with you. He will lead you through the day but know that what you do in the day matter(s). Don’t be terrified or intimated by what you see and/or feel because your God is with you. If you can be strong, then He will be your strength. And if you can be courageous, then He will work through you. Be blessed, strong, and courageous. You’re not alone.

Best Place to hide in troubled times (1min Read)

Thinking of where to hide when enemies surround your life? Make no mistake, there are real enemies out there. Or maybe you have no enemy? Think about these two men; Mordecai and Naboth in the Bible. They didn’t have much and tried to mind their own businesses yet the powerful and rich in society came after their lives. In effect, sometimes your simple life is enough bait to attract enemies from angles you least expected.

The first is just by the way, let’s look at the real issue. You appeared on the enemy’s radar from the first day you decided to follow Jesus Christ. He became interested in everything about you; your family, job, purpose, happiness, health, etc. And his prime goal is to shift your focus from God into believing his lies.

Satan works through his demons, who also mostly work through people. This is why you don’t only focus on the person who is trying to harm you but also deal with the spirit(s) working behind the scenes. You have Power over them in the Name of Jesus.

Here is what appears to be scary: Your adversary has been around since creation. He didn’t spare Abraham (God’s friend), Moses (the man who got close to seeing God), David (the man after God’s heart), Elijah and Elisha (powerful prophets), Jesus Christ (Son of God), and the Apostles (full of the Holy Spirit). If experience is anything to talk about, then Satan and his demons know how best to toast a person’s life. And since he didn’t spare any of your heroes, don’t expect him to deal with you lightly. He will also try to hit you hard.

The Packages of your enemy are Troubles. Each individual has peculiar package based on Faith level and/or (our) unique weaknesses. If the enemy could overwhelm you with his packages, then he gets the foothold to strike more. That’s why you need to sensitive to his devices and have a hiding place where you can take refuge.

You are my hiding place; You, Lord, protect me from trouble;
You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance.

(Psalm 32:7, AMP)

David had many enemies and he figured through experience that the best place to hide is in God. The reason being that God is able to protect you from both spiritual and physical enemies. None of the enemy’s packages would ever come as a surprise to Him because He knows all things and He will pick delivery for you.

Having God as your hiding place has nothing to do with running to obscure location to find Him. You don’t need caves or highly secured facility. All you need to do is to REST IN HIS LOVE. The Trust and Knowing that He’s got you covered. In the next verse (Psalm 32:8), The Lord says “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”.

Friend the best place to hide in this wicked and perverse world is in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Troubles are bound to come but the Lord will deliver you from them all according to Psalm 34. Always present you case/story/issue/problem to Him and He will be there for you.
