Sometimes, life becomes so difficult that all we can see is what is going wrong.
The unanswered prayer.
The financial pressure.
The disappointment.
The opportunity that never came.
The progress someone else seems to be making while we feel stuck.
And slowly, we can begin to believe that we are not blessed.
But today, I want you to look again.
You woke up this morning.
You have been given another day of life. Another opportunity to pray. Another opportunity to love. Another opportunity to learn. Another opportunity to correct yesterday’s mistakes. Another opportunity to take one more step towards the person God is calling you to become.
Is that not a blessing?
Hebrews 9:27 reminds us that “it is appointed unto men once to die.” Life is precious because our days on earth are not unlimited.
There are things money can buy, but there are also gifts whose true value cannot be measured by money.
Life.
Time.
Grace.
Another opportunity.
The presence of God.
We often measure blessing by possessions—our cars, houses, jobs, money, achievements, and connections. These things may be good, but they are not the foundation of a blessed life.
Jesus said:
“A man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” — Luke 12:15
Perhaps you don’t have everything you have been praying for yet.
Perhaps this season of your life looks very different from what you imagined.
But don’t allow what is missing to make you blind to what God has already given you.
You are here.
You still have today.
And as long as God has given you today, there is still an opportunity to pray, grow, change, forgive, begin again and fulfil His purpose for your life.
So shift your focus for a moment.
Look beyond the things the world uses to measure success and recognise the simple, profound gifts that we so easily take for granted.
Then ask yourself again:
Do I see myself as blessed?
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24
