When you feel like God is silent, it does not mean He is passive about your needs. He is working behind the scenes for you. The silence of today does not cancel the promise of tomorrow.
Sometimes, we look at the season we are in and cry out;
“O Lord, how long will You forget me? Forever? How long will You look the other way?” Psalm 13:1 (NLT)
There are seasons when the pieces of our story do not seem to fit together. The waiting feels longer than expected. The prayers appear unanswered. The future looks uncertain.
Yet, behind the scenes, God is arranging what our eyes cannot yet see.
Consider the lives of Joseph and David.
Joseph was thrown into a pit and spent about thirteen years enduring betrayal, false accusations, hardship, and imprisonment before he stood in the palace as Egypt’s governor. David was anointed king but spent approximately fourteen years fleeing from Saul before he finally wore the crown.
Their suffering did not mean God had forgotten them.
It meant God was preparing them.
Perhaps you are asking yourself today:
“What am I doing with my life?”
“Where do I begin?”
“How can this possibly work?”
If those questions sound familiar, remember this:
Trust the Author, even when you do not understand the chapter.
God sees the beginning and the end at the same time. While you see delays, He sees development. While you see closed doors, He sees divine direction. While you see silence, He is accomplishing purposes that will become clear in His perfect time.
As Jesus told His disciples,
“You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” John 13:7 (NIV)
So, do not put a full stop where God has placed a comma.
He has not finished writing your story.
God is up to something.
