“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am” (John 14:1-3, NLT)
- Introduction
When students go through modules in class, there is an exam right? Where the lecturer sets standard exam questions with anticipation that every student will pass. I remember during my post graduate days, one lecturer told the class that no one would fail. Whew! that took massive headache away. He added that “your decision to choose this course gave you grade C, now the little effort you put will push you to either grade A or B. You have all course materials and it’s up to you to decide But don’t worry because I will set the questions and I will mark them“. In the end, many students got A, and some got C.
- Digging deeper
This story could be projected onto a broader screen or I should say liken to what the whole JESUS story is about. He said in John 3 that “…everyone who believes in him will not perish…” In effect, your decision to believe in Him and accept Him as your Lord and Savior gave you grade C. This is certain because He sets how (or standard) you should live and He will judge those standards. He is the Examiner, the Marker, or the Judge. Now, what you do with Jesus will promote you to either Grade A or B.
Paul put this in a different context. In 1 Corinthians 3: 11 (TLB) he said “And no one can ever lay any other real foundation than that one we already have—Jesus Christ.” He added that “But there are various kinds of materials that can be used to build on that foundation. Some use gold and silver and jewels; and some build with sticks and hay or even straw!” (v12). Then he concluded that on the judgement day, everything will be tested with fire; those with gold together with those with straw. Note that because the real foundation was JESUS, everyone will be saved but individual rewards will differ.
- Points to Consider
So as Jesus goes to prepare place for you, how would your house be? The quality of your house will depend on what you did with the resources he deposited on the inside of you. I would encourage you to take steps each day to be better for Jesus’ business. It could be 5, 10, or 15 minutes out of 1440 minutes in a day. 15 minutes is approximately 1% of the gifted 1440 minutes.
Life isn’t about living in mansions, driving latest car, marrying beautiful spouse, raising godly children, etc. These are add-on. They are important but not as important as where your SOUL would be when it leaves your body. Think about this: Maybe its time you reconsider your priorities to accept the reality that Jesus is coming to take you HOME.
- Happy Ending
Today be happy that Jesus is the Examiner (the Judge) and He has passed you already because you believe in Him. The beauty of your story is that He has equipped you to be better each day. He has also defeated the enemy and his demons for you and raised you higher above their reach. You are seated with Christ in heavenly places, which enforces the need to ask yourself these questions daily:
- What will I do with Jesus?
- What will I tell my world about Jesus?
- What reward do I expect in the End?
- Would Jesus be happy with my decisions today?
Hope to see you in Heaven. God bless us and may He continue to reward our efforts in Jesus.
