My Little Story: Divine Provision

20121127-085653.jpgIt was Monday morning and I had finished praying, bathing, and drinking my usual cup of tea. I didn’t have money except for my transportation fare to work so before I left the room, I said the Lord’s Prayer. The emphasis was on “Give us today our daily bread” and in order to personal about it, I said “Give me today my daily bread“. I had always believed that there is Power in that short line therefore I trusted that God will someway somehow send me money before the day ends. I left my room with hope that miracle would happen, which was the only option I had anyway.

I jumped on public transport, greeted the person next to me, and looked outside without looking at who it was that sat next to me. About some five minutes later, the person who sat next to me tabbed my shoulder and asked how I was doing. It was then that I realised he was someone I knew from my former workplace. I knew that face but I wasn’t closed to him. This guy asked if I could hold his bag for him which I did. He took some money from his pocked and counted ten notes. He told me to hold the money for him and took his bag. I thought he was going take it back but he said nothing for the next 10 minutes. After a while, I told him to take his money as I was going to get down at the next stop but for strange reasons I don’t know, he told me to keep it. I was shocked because the amount was close to someone’s monthly salary. I thanked him and got off at the next stop. I was amazed and kept thinking about how someone, who isn’t my friend, could just dash me that amount on Monday morning. As I was pondering on it, I heard a voice that “this is the answer to your prayer”. “That was quick” I said and started giving thanks for such a quick response. God gave me money through a person I least expected.

Lessons:

ls.Why1God has promised in His Word that He will supply all our needs according to his riches in glory through Christ Jesus but the problem is that we try to convince God to work in our way or according to how we perceive things to go. When I prayed that morning, I thought God was going to use someone like my boss or closed pal to bless me. I was hoping God would use a known person to grant me the money I needed for the day/week But He did it His way within the shortest possible time. It happened within 30 minutes after I had prayed. The scripture says that “I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19, NLT). God has a way where we think there is no way and His ways are higher than our ways.

God has already made provisions for your needs. He knows when you need it and He knows how he would supply that need. The “How” isn’t your job because you will never understand how he works. Don’t try to convince God to do things your way as he knows the right path. In my story, there were many buses but how I got on that one to meet that fellow still baffles me. I could have been on any other bus but He directed my path to where my blessings were. God had already prepared his (that fellow’s) heart to bless me on that faithful day. I don’t know what your need is right now but I do know that “…whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].” (Mark 11:24, AMP). God will answer your request(s) in ways you have never imagined before in Jesus’ Name. Amen
