For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13, NLT)
I thank God for keeping us safe from January to December. Although December has just begun, we can see through our eyes of Faith that God has sailed us through safely. I welcome you to this great month and it is my prayer that God strengthens you in everything you do.
I want to share a story that will inspire you to get over your limitations. Limitations are mental pictures/images the enemy put across to keep us away from reaching our full potentials. The good news is that Jesus has given us strength and power to move beyond these imaginary barriers.
The Story:
A good friend sent me whatsapp message after 10pm last month (I didn’t keep the date) that she couldn’t sleep. I thought she had insomnia but she told me that her little niece was the problem. “she can’t sleep and am worried” she said. I told her, like I would say to anyone, that sing for her. It is believed that lullabies send babies to sleep so this has been my suggestion for friends. Unfortunately, My friend told me that she can’t sing. I was puzzled because I thought she could sing better. she told me that “I have a bad voice that would rather keep her awake all night” But my words to her were firm and straight as I replied “Just sing”. About 15 minutes later, she sent a message that “it worked and she is gone”. I was happy to hear that and I wanted to find out who told her that she has a bad voice. she replied that nobody did. she felt that she hasn’t got a good voice. She thought about it and it gained roots on her mind. The enemy had programmed her mind that she can’t sing because she hasn’t got a good voice.
Lesson:
I wonder how many of God’s children that have allowed Satan to program their mind into believing that they are not good enough? The enemy could use a word from your mentor, pastor, parents, friends, etc to make you feel inferior; to make you believe that you don’t have the strength to achieve a given task; to make you believe that you do not qualify; to make you settle for good enough. However that scripture says that God has given us strength for the battle. He has placed in you all that you need to be successful and to live a fulfilled life. He has placed that seed of greatness in you. My friend believed that she couldn’t sing and that her voice would keep her niece awake all night yet when she sang with the same voice, her niece slept.
We don’t have the right to claim that we have done anything on our own. God gives us what it takes to do all that we do. (2 Corinthians 3:5, CEV)
