His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” (John 2:5 NIV)
So often we talk to God about our needs and quote
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7, 8 NLT)
yet we don’t receive, find, and the door hasn’t been opened for ages. The problem is after we have prayed to God, we expect God to answer our requests our way. In other words, we want God to do it the way we perceive things to be. Example is what happened in 2 Kings 7 when Elisha prophesied that
“By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, five quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and ten quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver. ”
The officer assisting the king believed otherwise. He replied
“That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” (2 Kings 7:1, 2 NLT)
That officer hadn’t seen, heard, or read in any book that famine could cease overnight so he told Elisha that it would never be possible. This guy didn’t live to see the miracle because he didn’t believe what the prophet said.
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. (Isaiah 55:8 NLT)
Some of us are praying to God for breakthrough yet when the Holy Spirit reveals to them how things are going to be, they doubt like the officer in 2 kings. I tell folks that we don’t need to understand how God works as some may be unreasonable according to our human knowledge. What we must do as believers is to believe everything He says, and do whatever He says without questioning.
In John 2, Mary told the servants to do whatever Jesus tells them to do. It was as if Mary knew what Jesus would do that was why she told them to comply with whatever Jesus says. Those servants saw God’s power when they did what they were told without questioning Jesus.
Friend I came to encourage you that whatever God tells you to say, say it. And whatever He tells you to do, do it. Don’t limit God’s power to perform to your reasoning. God has infinite power to work in a way that pleases Him.
God is about to surprise you this month. And He would work in a way you have never thought of before. It may look stupid or may not make sense when you give it a thought but Only Believe. Paul said
“This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.” (1 Corinthians 1:25 NLT).
When you obey what He tells you, you will see the miracle you have been praying for all these years in Jesus’ Name.
