For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
God has plans to prosper His children but too often we settle for less in life. We settle for what our little strength could fetch us and fail to recognise the good things God has for us. This reminds of what happened last week in my hotel room when I attended my granny’s funeral at my hometown.
I had a little sponge I loved so much. In fact I knew I had to discard it because it was old and very short but for reasons I didn’t know, I kept on using it everyday. Sometimes it hardly covered my back and made bathing bit uncomfortable yet I found it difficult to throw it away. A day before the funeral, the sponge disappeared from the hotel room. I searched every corner but to no avail. Immediately I realised that the time had come for me to get a new one. I went to the shop to buy one which is nicer than the first one. I have come to love the new one more than the old.
The point I want to make is I was so comfortable with the old sponge although it gave little problems anytime I used it. I heard God so many times telling me to go for a new one but I was ok with the old one. Eventually, He took it away when I needed sponge most and that made me bought the new one.
Until you get rid of the old things in your life, You will see no new thing. Therefore make room for the new.
God has good breaks in your future so He doesn’t want you to settle for good enough. Don’t put a comma where God has put a full stop. When the time is up for something to go, allow it and never use your human intellect because in the end, what the Lord says is what will happen. I hope God will use this message to help you get rid of the old things for the new in Jesus’ Name.
