The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; (Psalm 34:19 NIV)
Most people wonder why God sometimes allow or permit His children to face trouble? I used to ask this same question when I was a child but I found the answer in John 9. I thank God I did at the early stage of my life.
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. (John 9:1-3 NIV)
God sometimes allow or permit trouble to come so that His children would know He is more than able to deliver. In other words, He wants our lives to be testimonies to other people, including unbelievers. For example God allowed the three Hebrews to be thrown into the burning furnace so that Nebuchadnezzar would know or see His wondrous Power to deliver His children from any situation.
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. (James 1:2 NLT)
Troubles are opportunity for great joy. Consider Joseph, He came from prison to a much higher position in Egypt. Think about Mordecai, He was honoured while his enemy was hanged on his own gallows. Job received more than what he lost in times of trouble. The three Hebrews and Daniel saw the mighty power of God to deliver His children. Peter was sent to prison but these were his words when he was delivered; Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.” (Acts 12:11 NIV). And I know that your great joy is just ahead of you.
In Psalm 34:19, the psalmist said although the righteous man or woman may have many trouble, the Lord is more than able to deliver him or her from them all. Notice he did say God will deliver him from some. He used them all. Therefore no matter what you are going through today, God will deliver you from them all. He allowed those troubles so that when He delivers you, those people who saw you in those situations would see His mighty Power and give Him glory. Praise the Lord!
What Satan means for evil God uses for good, if we look at problems as from God or that He willingly afflicts us (see below) we will have fleshy fear of Him and no Trust in His goodness ,compassion and mercy or believe His heart is tender towards us His redeemed Children.
Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
No one willingly allows those they Love to suffer or plans evil for them, so why do people claim that God who is Love does, He can do no evil or does He deliberately plan it for us, we reap what we sow, or because others hurt us and because we live in a fallen world under the influence of Satan who can do no good. If they understood God’s heart, they wouldn’t say He does. 1Corinthians2:9-16
We ask and receive God’s wisdom and then we don’t doubt that we have, we give thanks and walk in it growing in knowledge, insight and discernment and also being able to reason and use logic in agreement with Him.
We rejoice not because of the suffering but because in our Trouble and hardship we can see God’s deliverance, His compassion, His mercy, His faithfulness, God is not a sadist and we don’t have to pretend to enjoy suffering but when we do suffer or are even Martyred for doing good, we know we will be greatly rewarded and in all these things we rejoice.
Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
When Jesus said it was not because of sin that the man was born blind He was not saying it was because He afflicted Him, He was confirming that Children don’t suffer for the sins of their parents, nor does God deliberately cause a baby to be blind to punish the parents but that God can through any affliction that we suffer show His mercy and power. God knew the man was going to be born blind as He knows all things, it was not by chance that Jesus was there when needed and His Miracles showed His Unity in The Father.
Everything God made was very good including the eggs in the womb but through the fall sickness and suffering entered the world but we do not face any Storms alone and so even in suffering we can give thanks what Satan meant for evil God uses for good, we learn to persevere as He strengthens us and we do not give up because He keeps us strong to the end.
Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”
