If anyone claims, “I am living in the light,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is still living in darkness. (1 John 2:9 NLT)
It’s easy to say I love you. It’s easy to buy presents for people on Valentine’s Day. It’s also easy to say I am sorry. But one thing some of us find it hard to do is forgiving those who have done them wrong. If we confess we love, then we should be able to show by our actions as the Scripture says in 1 John 3:18 “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” I could imagine how the world would be if everybody loves his/her neighbour genuinely. There would be no hatred, bitterness, strive, stealing, lying, backbiting, shooting, kidnaping, child trafficking, domestic violence, suicide attack, etc. This is what Satan doesn’t want. Satan is happy when innocent people suffer. He is happy when the soul, for whom Christ died for, dies without knowing his/her Saviour.
LIVING IN DARKNESS
Whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him. (1 John 2:11 NIV84)
Satan wants God’s people to live in darkness. That is why it’s very common to see two people in one church yet they don’t talk to each other. It’s also sad to see churches fighting against one another. These are works of Satan and his agents. When you see Christians cheating Christians, don’t be surprised because darkness has blinded them. There is no peace in some churches because there is no love. And where there is no love, Satan rules.
WALKING IN THE LIGHT
I believe we can make or be the change we need in our societies by living in the light. When you are walking in the Light, you love in words, and in deeds. You consider your brother or sister’s interest before doing anything. The scripture says “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3, 4 NIV84)
Let us show love, not only on 14th February but, in every day of our lives. Love is so important because God is Love. And it’s “One thing” that shows that we are disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. Love all!
