In the Midst of Storm

Storms are inevitable, and they come in different forms. Storms are meant to come as we journey to the beloved country.  God has emergency procedures we need to follow when storms hit us. One day, I was at work when suddenly a client fell over and started bleeding. I didn’t know what to do because I had not seen that before. I called 999 and I was careful in obeying everything the Paramedics said on phone.

The first thing I did was to call 999, and they showed me what to do as I waited for them. In Jeremiah 33:3, God told Jeremiah “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”. I wonder how many of us call unto the Lord when storm arises. We tend to complain and move about seeking for solutions from man. When my client fell over, I thought of calling my manager or probably a colleague to let them know what was happening. Well, calling them would have been right but that would not have done any good to the man on the floor. I called 999 because I knew the hospital has got the solution. Friends, God already had solutions to our problems before we had them. As a matter of fact, He knew we would face those problems before we were born.

My question is:

Why don’t we call unto Him when problems or challenges come?

In psalm 91:15, God said “he would call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him.” When you call upon the Lord in midst of your problems, difficulties, troubles, etc, His Word says He will be with you in that situation, He will deliver you, and honour you.

Talk to God today.

I have realized that God is the last resort most believers turn to when they are in the midst of storm. They look around for help instead of Looking Up. Our help comes from the Lord the psalmist said. From today, I believe we would make Him the first to contact for solution.

During the time I was on phone talking to the Paramedics, they told me to calm down. I remember what they said that “Don’t worry; we would be there as soon as possible. We would call you in two minutes. You just relax and we would do our best for the client”. They put the siren on which made other road users gave way to enable get to my client on time. Something similar happens in the spiritual realm when we call unto God. Gabriel told Daniel in Daniel 9:22-23 “As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given”. There are emergency crews in Heaven waiting for your call.

I watched the movie The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan. In the movie, it got to a place where the pilgrim got into trouble. I think he was getting drawn and he cried “help! Help!!”  Immediately, someone stretched his hands to help him. The pilgrim was surprised and asked; “who are you?”  The stranger answered “My name is help. I heard you calling my name”. Beloved, we are not ordinary. We belong to Zion. Our Father is the Creator of the Universe. When I was a kid, I used to think my dad was the strongest man on earth. But that perception change as I grew up. I realized My Father in Heaven is rather the strongest Man on earth. He has answers to every situation.

I want to encourage you today to call upon the Lord when you face crises. David said in Psalm 118:5 that “In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered me by setting me free.” The Lord will set you free today. Amen.

Psalm 50:15 says “call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” I have learnt that no man has answers to my problems but God. He is the Only Wise One who can support me and take me out of every negative situation.

I may not know the challenge you are going through now but I do know the God we serve. No man could understand your struggles in life than your Father in Heaven. Call upon Him today.

It is well
