Finding Strength in Life’s Unforeseen Challenges

On my right was a bottle of water; on the left were my notepad and a book titled Dopamine Nation by Dr. Anna Lembke that explores why our addiction to pleasure is causing us pain. Behind me was the bed, and in front of me were two medical professionals: an anesthesiologist and a general surgeon. They were trying to explain how the procedure was going to be and why I should trust that the best team was assembled for me. “This wasn’t part of my plan on 31st December,” I thought, “and here I am on 30th June, at the hospital, although not sick yet, having to go through this medical procedure.” By God’s grace, the procedure was successful after approximately 2 hours under general anesthesia. And now, I am faced with remodeling my plans for the second part of the year.

I didn’t expect this at the beginning of the year, and what I have learned is that our plans at any given time should make room for significant life events. Often, we don’t factor this in, so they pounce on us unprepared.

Life is full of surprises, and as I always say, tomorrow isn’t promised; therefore, we have to make the most of today. Your plans should consider that situations beyond your control are inevitable. You have got to pray that God will give you the strength and fortitude to carry on without being in despair. No one is spared from this, unfortunately. Also, we should pray for, encourage, reassure, and support someone who is dealing with a significant life event.

The assurance we have is that God has promised to be with us in spite of what happens. Through Jesus Christ, nothing shall be beyond what we can bear. God bless you! Amen

Overcoming Grief: Easter Reflections

There are moments in life when everything appears as though nothing is working. During those times, God works behind the scenes.

Saturday was a silent moment in the disciples’ lives. They had witnessed Jesus’ glorious entry into Jerusalem. They saw what happened at the temple. They had the Lord’s Supper. They saw Jesus being captured, tortured, and crucified. Finally, they saw their master die on the cross. Everyone fled as it was written. “I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of his flock will be scattered” (Matthew 26:31).

The Cross brings Hope

The disciples woke up on Saturday morning to a quieter day. It was a silent moment. Everything they thought they were working for seemed to have stopped. There was no Jesus, no crowd, no miracles, and no words. They wailed in their grief. Meanwhile, their enemies rejoiced. They believed they had stopped a menace in society. What they did not know was that Jesus Christ was working, thereby defeating Satan and his cohorts.

Today, let these words encourage you if you find yourself in a silent moment. God is working behind the scenes. Jesus Christ won, so you can win. I came to declare that you will come out bigger and better than anything you can ever think of. Happy Easter!

Embracing God’s Love: You Are Enough as You Are

What did you do to deserve Christ’s death on the cross? I can guess right, and it’s nothing. The scripture says that ‘But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. ‘ (Romans 5:8, NLT)

Jesus Christ isn’t looking for your perfect self to love; He loves you just as you are. He wants to transform your messy self into a rich message that you can share. Don’t feel inadequate to come. The Apostle Paul said that this love is too great to understand fully. (Ephesians 3:19)

I have always told people this. The best time to take the car to a washing bay is when it’s dirty. Thus if you are caught up in sin and/or addiction, the right to be is in His love. Come Home.

Be encouraged to live in this reality that His love for you is too great to understand fully. And with His love, He is ready to freely give you all things if only you will ask.

God Bless You.
