Love Keeps No Record Of Wrongs

love keeps no record of wrongsIf we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts]. (1 John 1:8 AMP).

We were sinners because of one man, Adam. But the scripture says that God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8, NLT). Remember, without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. Christ came to die so that we could have forgiveness of our sins. This makes forgiveness an important topic in our walk of faith.

In Matthew 18:21-35, Jesus talked about forgiving our brothers and sisters who have done us wrong. From the passage, the Master forgave the servant his debt he could not pay. The penalty was so severe that he had to fall down before his master and begged for more time to pay. The Master felt pity for him so he forgave his debt. But that servant could not do the same to another fellow who owed him a hundred silver coin. The servant was unmerciful to his fellow servant. In short, the Master got to hear what he had done, and took him to jail; tortured him till he paid the last penny.

Friends, we owed a debt we could not have afforded to pay but God sent His son to suffer and die on our behalf. He paid the debt we could not pay. He forgave us our sins. Like that Master and His servant, we ought to forgive those who sin against us because God forgives us when we go wrong.

Take a moment to answer these questions:

Do you remember the last time you sinned against God?

Did you pray for forgiveness?

Do you believe that He has forgiven you? If YES, you are blessed.

Let us move on the other direction;

Do you remember the last time someone (brother, sister, colleague, mother, father, teacher, pastor, family member, manager, director, supervisor, etc.) did something wrong (sin) against you?

Did you pay him/her back? Or you forgave him/her?

Often we find it hard to forgive others, especially when they deliberately hurt us. This makes us to believe that God acts as such so when we go wrong, we find it very difficult to forgive ourselves or even believe that God has forgiven us after we have confessed to him.

In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus added “And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us [who has offended us or done us wrong].” (Luke 11:4, AMP). The way we are going to receive forgiveness from the Lord is dependent on the way we forgive others when they sin against us. Consider what Jesus said in Matthew 18:35 after the master had punished the unmerciful servant: “That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart” (Matthew 18:35, NLT)

God wants us to live in peace because in the beginning, he created a man and a woman. We are one family. For that reason, you are my brother/sister. We must love one another. I do not have to always keep record of the wrong things you do to me.

“…love keeps no record of wrongs.” (1 Corinthians 13:5, NIV)

When God forgives you, it is as though you never committed that sin. He does that because He loves you. He does not keep record of your sins. In the same way, you ought to show your genuine love by forgiving others their mistakes without reminding them in the future.

God bless you as you decide to love those who have done you wrong or hurt you in the past or present by forgiving them their mistake(s). Amen

We can pray together: if you need strength to let things go, drop a message and I would pray with you. The address is upliftingchrist@gmail.com

The Power of Prayer

HOPE1The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

James 5:16, NLT

Prayer is the means through which we communicate with God our Father. First of all, God desires to have rich relationship with His children, where His children can talk to Him about everything. This has become possible because of the wondrous work Jesus did on Calvary.

Someone once said “a week without prayer makes a Christian weak”, and “a prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian”. This means that when you don’t spend time with God, you will become weak, powerless, and the enemy can attack and destroy you anytime. However, when you spend time with God, He directs your path with the help of His Spirit. He makes you stronger in Him as you put on His whole armor. Remember Jesus’ words that watch and pray so that you don’t enter into temptation.

In the lead passage, the scripture says that “the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” Notice it says the earnest prayer of a righteous person, showing the kind of prayer you should pray.

Your earnest prayer will produce the wonderful results you seek in your life in Jesus’ Name.

In Luke 22:44 the Bible says “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly”. Jesus, the Son of God, prayed more earnestly. Finally, Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! Then, when he prayed again, the sky send down rain and the earth began to yield its crops. (James 5:17, NLT)

Your enemy knows what your prayer can do so he will try to distract your attention from praying. Some tools he uses are;

  • condemnation

He will condemn you when you go wrong to make you feel that you don’t qualify to come to God. His interest is to keep your mouth shut because he knows that whatever you ask for in prayer, if you believe that you have received it, it will be yours. He knows that your earnest prayer has great power and produces wonderful results.

Friend, don’t let the devil keep your mouth shut. Take note of this; I am not encouraging you to sin but if you go wrong or sin, don’t let the guilt of those mistakes hinder you from praying. You prayer for forgiveness and ask for grace to continue your race. Remember “a prayerless Christian is powerless Christian

  • worry and anxiety

Worrying about your situation will shift your focus from God. It will make your problem(s) look bigger and you wouldn’t see the importance of praying to God. The enemy will make you worry as he knows it will keep your mouth shut.

Paul said in Philippians 4:6 that don’t worry about anything. Pray to God about everything.

  • Your schedule

The enemy will give you a perfect excuse for not praying; your schedule. Why don’t you pray? “I am occupied”, “I don’t have time”, “my work takes all my time”, “I have to prepare breakfast, take my kids to school, and get to the office before 8am”, “I am always tired when I get home in the evening”, etc. Don’t let anything come between your Father and you. What shall separate you from the love of God?

  • Unforgiveness

The enemy is happy when you don’t forgive people who sin against you because it hinders you from receiving from God. When you don’t get answers to your prayers, you become disappointed and stop praying.

In Acts chapter 12, when the church prayed earnestly for Peter, who was then arrested by Herod and had been kept under four quadrant of soldiers, God sent an angel to rescue Peter from the prison. This was the wonderful result the church had when they prayed effectively for Peter. The lesson here is that your prayer has Power to break every yoke in Jesus’ Name.

The devil can’t hold you, your family, your friends, or even your business captive anymore because you are going to pray effectively which will make tremendous power available to destroy all the powers he has, and take back what is yours in Jesus’ Name.

Be encouraged to pray continually. Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer.

Friend, Prayer is the master-key you need to open every closed-door in your life. God bless you

RESISTING TEMPTATION

Yielding to the temptation is sin which produces death. God understands our weaknesses. He knows we are flesh and blood. And He knows we are from the dust of the earth. The physical body is from the world so it would always seek things from the world. The spirit, on the contrary, is from God. That was why Paul said “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the Flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would” Gal 5:17. In order to effectively resist temptation, take time to feed the Spirit. Study more of God’s Word “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom” Col 3:16 and Pray always. Jesus said “Pray that you will not fall into temptation” Luke 22:40, 46. Pray without ceasing. I Thess 5:17. And each time you Pray, don’t forget what Jesus said in the Lord’s Prayer “…And lead us not into temptation…” Matthew 6:13.

Whenever you have a need, or have a desire for something, there is a possibility that you would be tempted. And the temptation that would come is common to man according to I Corinthians 10:13. God is faithful; He would not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.  When you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

I will close with this;

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, Yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of Grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find Grace to help us in our time of need. Heb 4:15-16
