Finding Strength in Life’s Unforeseen Challenges

On my right was a bottle of water; on the left were my notepad and a book titled Dopamine Nation by Dr. Anna Lembke that explores why our addiction to pleasure is causing us pain. Behind me was the bed, and in front of me were two medical professionals: an anesthesiologist and a general surgeon. They were trying to explain how the procedure was going to be and why I should trust that the best team was assembled for me. “This wasn’t part of my plan on 31st December,” I thought, “and here I am on 30th June, at the hospital, although not sick yet, having to go through this medical procedure.” By God’s grace, the procedure was successful after approximately 2 hours under general anesthesia. And now, I am faced with remodeling my plans for the second part of the year.

I didn’t expect this at the beginning of the year, and what I have learned is that our plans at any given time should make room for significant life events. Often, we don’t factor this in, so they pounce on us unprepared.

Life is full of surprises, and as I always say, tomorrow isn’t promised; therefore, we have to make the most of today. Your plans should consider that situations beyond your control are inevitable. You have got to pray that God will give you the strength and fortitude to carry on without being in despair. No one is spared from this, unfortunately. Also, we should pray for, encourage, reassure, and support someone who is dealing with a significant life event.

The assurance we have is that God has promised to be with us in spite of what happens. Through Jesus Christ, nothing shall be beyond what we can bear. God bless you! Amen

God Prepares Ahead of Time

Did you know that for every situation you have encountered in this life, God prepared you ahead of time? This is difficult for some to comprehend because certain situations or circumstances jump on us as a surprise. And we wonder, “Where is God?” But the truth is that God is Omnipotent and Omniscient. He knew what would happen. So, He prepares us ahead of time.

Throughout the scriptures, there are repeated instances where God prepared His children before a challenge or problem happened. Let’s consider Daniel. Before King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, God gifted Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego with an unusual aptitude. They understood every aspect of literature and wisdom, which prepared them in advance. God also gave Daniel the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams (Daniel 1:17).

God gifted Daniel before the King had the dream. So, When the King sent for him to be killed, Daniel asked for some time. He used this time to pray to God for a solution. And God revealed the secret to him.

No wonder the scripture says “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” (Psalms 37:23-24, NLT)

In this year, God has already equipped you with every resource you need to achieve the desires of your heart. The storm or challenge will come but do not despair. Like Daniel, go to God in prayer and he will show you what to do. You will feel the fear but dig into His word for encouragement. I have resolved that eagerness to push ahead in life comes from encouragement. And you need this every day.

In conclusion, pay close attention to things happening in your life. Some are preparing you for unknown things yet to come. For the challenges or problems you see now, the solution lies within so go to God, in prayer, for direction. God bless you.

Thought for the Day: Always Pray (07.01.22)

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

(Luke 18:1, NLT)

Jesus’ words still echo as powerful as they were on the day He spoke them. “…Always pray and never give up“.
