doubtingI grew up in a society where people, including Christians, believed God takes away the good things He gives us. They would quote this scripture Job 1:21 “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;may the name of the Lord be praised.” They used this scripture to support their argument. Most ministers of the Gospel quote this at funerals, or when the devil steals from God’s children. Let us not forget that  Satan‘s job is to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus told us “the thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life (John 10:10 NLT). Satan is a Destroyer. I want believers all over the world to know that when something bad happens, the mastermind behind is Satan because “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17 NIV84). I believe Job didn’t know Satan was responsible for his sufferings that was why he made that statement.

God doesn’t take back the gifts he has given or disown the people he has chosen. (ROMANS 11:29 CEV)

Today, I want you to take a look at your life. Do you have any sickness in your body? Is business slowing down? Do you sense any weakness in your spiritual life? Do you read your bible, pray, fellowship, etc? Do you have work? Are you happy in life? Are you selfish? Do you have peace in your home? Is your ministry progressing? Have you lost anything precious in the past days, months, years? Etc. don’t forget Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. Satan wants you poor, he wants you sick, he wants you depress, he wants to take away the good things God, through Jesus Christ, had placed in you. But Jesus came that we will have life, joy, happiness, live in abundance, remain healthy, etc. The Lord takes pleasure in the prosperity of his children.

You may be at the edge of loosing something(property, child, business, etc). I will encourage you to read Luke 10:19

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

God has given you Power to overcome all the power of the enemy. Satan can’t steal from you when you confide in Jesus. He can’t touch you because of the Blood of Jesus. The most important of all is Jesus is seated at the Father’s right hand interceding for you. I want to encourage you to Pray without ceasing. And always remember that

The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

In Jeremiah 29:11-13 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

DOES GOD GIVE AND TAKE AWAY?

My answer to the question is NO. God doesn’t take back the gifts he has given or disown the people he has chosen. (ROMANS 11:29 CEV)

At that moment the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”“Yes,” Abraham replied. “Here I am!” “Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.” (Genesis 22:11, 12 NLT). God didn’t not take Isaac away from Abraham.

God bless us

  2. Indeed, God does “more than all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20)! I have kept a blessings journal for thirty years, and am approaching 1000 entries of special, out-of-the-ordinary events in the life of my family. Our Heavenly Father pours out his grace upon us in numerous ways day after day.

But we’re still left wondering why bad things happen to good people. Paul would be a perfect example. He gave his all to preach the gospel, yet suffered imprisonment, flogging, beatings with rods, stoning, and more (2 Corinthians 11:23-27). I’d be interested to know your view on this aspect of our experience as Christians.

    1. God bless you for visiting Uplifting Christ. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

I thank God for all the blessings He has been pouring on us daily. Life worth living when we understand and see from God’s viewpoint. The scripture “Can a woman forget her nursing child And have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. “Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands Isaiah 49:15,16.
God has all our days in the palm of His hands. He knows what would happen in the end from start.
And 1 John 5:18 God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them. In other words, Jesus holds us securely, and the evil one cannot touch us.

God allows some things to happen to us, or allows us to go through certain situations for a purpose. If Paul hadn’t gone through all those things, what would have been the story today? What would have to tell those who are persecuted for Jesus’ sake? God’s children wouldn’t have known that if we really want to stand for God, then we must be ready to face oppositions. And when you read Paul’s story very well, you would know that God gave him strength to endure those pains, hurts, hardship, etc. God allowed those things to happen but He was with him(Paul) through it all.
This tells us that as we have taken the decision to live for Jesus, and Jesus alone, we should be prepared to go through some of these things. Remember a servant isn’t greater than his master. Satan and his guys tried to stop him from spreading the Good News but Paul stood for God and he won the race. Today, his story is a source of encouragement for Christians all over the world.

Another point I want to raise is did allow those things to happen to the people we see as good? God examines the heart but we look at physical appearance. Some people may appear to be good but within they are corrupt. Such people suffer the consequences of their actions, and since we don’t know their secret lives, we tend to ask “why did this thing happen to this good fellow?” An example is one guy who was killed in an accident after church service. He was responsible for taking the tithe and offering from his local church to the headquarters. Everyone knew him to be a good child of God but what they didn’t know was that he and his assistance, a lady, steal from the church money. Nobody knew this until the day of his burial when the lady confessed all they had been doing since they took over that position. She said even on the day he passed away, he had taken some of the money somewhere before boarding car to the headquarters. Satan and his demons plotted that accident but as to how and why God didn’t protect him, I can’t answer that. Probably God spoke but since he didn’t hear………

so anytime someone ask me “why does bad things happen to good people?”, my answer has always been GOD KNOWS BEST.

GOD KNOWS BEST sister, Someday when we see Him (God), we will understand why those things happened.

God bless you. Hope you will visit more often.

  3. I hope Uplifting Christ, you will be OK about the length of this comment, it needed detail as I felt the the Truth in your message needed further confirmation especially for those who fear God will hurt them.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

It is True we come into the World with no earthly chattels and we go out the same but as Christians who Love and obey God and so Love and help others, we store up Treasures in Heaven that cannot be stolen or rust, they are Eternal.

God knows all things, so why was Abraham’s Faith tested, God knew he would be faithful, He told him where to sacrifice his son Isaac and already had a ram prepared to take Isaac’s place. If we remember Abraham lied about Sahara being his sister and risked her life, yes it was a half Truth but she was his wife too, not just his sister.

So God tested Abraham’s faith with no intention of him sacrificing Isaac, so who was it for? who needed to see how strong Abraham’s faith was, yes Abraham himself but who claimed Job would be unfaithful and so he was put to the test too, who tempted Jesus in the desert, who caused Peter to fear and deny Jesus even though later thankfully he repented, who afflicted Paul and caused him and many other Christians in the early Church and today to be tortured and Martyred. Satan has the right to put us to the test too, he won this right at the fall, he controls this earth.

1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, in as much as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy

1Peter 1:6-7 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

James 1:12-14 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that Love Him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

If God was to stop all evil now, many would be lost but He is patient giving us time, He does not willingly allow evil, He tolerates it, it’s not His will anyone perishes but we can be assured not one of us, who He has known from Eternity and who are Adopted by Him, will be lost , He protects our Soul and is always with us giving us strength to endure whatever hardship life brings, including the fire of Satan’s trials .

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

It is True as you said Uplifting Christ, Job did not have The Holy Spirit, Pentecost had not come yet although He was working in Job’s life as Satan claimed but He was not indwelling him. Job thought that good and bad came from God but The Scriptures confirm all good things come from God and He can do no evil, even to bring good out of it, to say this the Scriptures tell us is slander but He does indeed bring good out of everything for us who Love and obey Him, the rest reap the evil they sow and suffer the Destiny they choose, as you also shared with us Uplifting Christ.

    1. Thank you for your comment. It’s powerful.

Anne, I had revelation regarding Job’s story. God knows all things, and He sees the end from the beginning. God knew Job will pass the test that was why He allowed Satan. Satan didn’t know this.
He allowed satan to destroy all Job had because He has the Power to RESTORE. This tells me that God has better things in our future. We may not see it but with Faith we can tap into the future.

As a matter of fact, this post has blessed me in so many ways. The good news is It is the most viewed post in 2013. Many of God’s children are trying to find answer(s) to this question. God doesn’t take away the gifts He gives, and He gives more when the enemy steals something from us.

      God bless you

      1. What an a wonderful Truth you have shared Uplifting Christ, and yes it comes from God’s wisdom, so many accuse God of causing them to suffer and Job did too but God reassured him later and yes as you said gave him much more then he had before.

Thank you again, I will look forward to your next Post but even if this one was your lowest viewed it is still very good.

Oh, and thank you for following my blog, it is an honor! Blessings,

Its always a heart check w God. Me and my husband have had God bless us with provision such as a house. After time i would constantly complain about it and want to move. Then iy was taken from us. In His great mercy we still had a roof over our head. However i grew and learned to be Thankful. I believe He does give and take away. That is why we have trials to test our faith.
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

  11. you know, I love God very much..but, I still cannot believe what happened to us..I really believed with all my heart, that God would not allow things to happen the way they did..but He did allow it. we lost our home, not only did we lose it, it was in the most shameful, humiliating and painful way. I am yet to get a revelation for all of this. This all happened in 2018. My eldest is in therapy, I’m battling dark thoughts( symptoms of depression) my husband lost half his body weight. it’s not that I am attached to material things, I know there is restoration. But the shame, the humiliation? oh that was too much, even for a sinner like me oh lord.
