Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 1 John 4:20.

God is love and He shows us this love daily. He gives us life, forgives our iniquities, heals our diseases, cleanses us from unrighteousness, etc.

The question is; what can we do to reciprocate His love?

My answer to the question is to love Him back. If that is the case, how do I love know I love God?  And my answer again is keeping His command. In John 14:15 from the NIV, Jesus said “If you love me, you will obey what I command. KJV says “if you love me, keep my commandments”.

What command was He talking about?

In Chapter 13, and verse 34 of the same John, He said “A new command I give you: LOVE one another. As I have LOVE you, so you must love one another.” In verse 35, He continued that “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” The point is clear here; what makes a person known as a follower of Jesus Christ is his or her love for the next person he or she sees. Therefore if you don’t love your brother or sister, then the LOVE of God is not in you. You are still walking in darkness.

Love is the greatest gift you could ever offer to someone. It is supreme. It is the greatest among the three giants; FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE. The reason being that GOD is LOVE: 1 John 4:8 “whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” To prove that God is LOVE, Let us get to 1 Corinthians 13:4 and replace love with God.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs….”

“God is patient, God is Kind. He does not envy, He does not boast, He is not proud. He does not dishonour others, He is not self-seeking, He is not easily angered, He keeps no record of wrongs…”

Friends, let us take the opportunity 14th February is presenting to show our Love to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord, by LOVING everybody. 1 John 4:20 says “If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar”

Examine yourself today, cast your mind back; Is there a single soul you hate? Do you have someone you don’t like, you don’t want to see, hear from, talk to, etc? Have you opened your mouth to say “I HATE YOU” before? Hmmmm! God sees you as a murderer. “Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him” 1 John 3:15

God is not expecting you to let others know that you LOVE him. Rather, He expects you to show that LOVE to your fellow human being. “If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us”. When you meet someone, and he bleeds red, love him generously because he is your brother or sister.

On this day, 14th Feb, if you have anything against anyone, no matter the intensity; forgive, and make peace. Don’t go about buying gifts for some people while you hate someone or other people. You would be deceiving yourself. I beseech you to let go all the pains, hurts, disappointments, heartbreak, etc and be at peace with all men.

Show some love to your wife, show some love to your husband. Love your friends, love those who curse you. Continue loving those who hate you, and say all manner of things against you. Let us all make good use of this wonderful opportunity to tell the world we are LOVE. You may not meet some of the people you see today next year. Today is the day we have. Don’t be among the LIARS because all liars will go to Hell. Instead,  Be a true disciple of our Lord Jesus.

And to the young and unmarried folks, know your limit. Satan is out there to tempt many on this day. Be self-controlled, be vigilant. If you truly love your girlfriend or boyfriend as your claim, you would save his or her soul from the day of destruction. You wouldn’t do things that would contaminate his or her body for eternal suffering.

Happy LOVE day!

  1. Amen. this was well written!!!! I absolutely love what you say here. Love is not something to be trifled with and it isn’t something that is as simple as saying in words as it is mostly shown in deed. Love in our hearts should translate into action and must be made manifest in all the things we do since Love is the greatest thing of all.

    1. I totally agree with you Sherline. 1 John 3:18 says Dear children let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. I think it high time we stood together as followers of Jesus Christ, and demonstrate our true nature which is LOVE.

God bless you for coming again to depreachersblog.
